Rain hissed around her, drenching the street and forcing her steps into erratic motions to avoid shallow puddles as she made her way slowly down the street. She held her umbrella slightly askew, enough that with every step she could feel a bit of the rain hit the shoulder of her jacket, but she didn't mind. It was helping keep the dog that padded next to her mostly dry. Well, as dry as it could since it had been wandering in the rain prior to her finding it.
No leash or collar, it strode in step next to her as though it had always been that way. The dog itself was relatively large - somewhat bigger than a retriever or German Shepard. Its coat, though darkened from the wetness, turned from an almost black along its spine through a brown that took up most of its midle, to a faded gray-brown color near its belly and the ends of its legs. It kept its ears held high and alert, though its head drooped somewhat when it walked, though that was likely due to malnutrition than its type. The breed was indistinguishable, obviously a mutt of three or four different large dogs.
She turned up the short walk to the front of the house she shared with the two other girls, and stepped through the door before inviting the dog inside. It stepped in, almost hesitantly, nose twitching as it sniffed the entranceway ... and then shook itself off all over doorway. Sei laughed, trying to shield her face with the closed umbrella.
"Girls, I brought the dog home! Come say hi!," she called into the house, holding out a hand to stop the dog from walking into the house proper before someone could bring a towel. "And bring something to dry it off!"
