"I thought it best to give us both a sense of home because for too long we've only lived in a houses." Kuja explained, admiring his handiwork. "I do remember Alexandria well. It was where I first saw you though you wouldn't have seen me. I visited often but you can understand no one was to know of my presence during those times."
"Times that feel like...lifetimes ago." The Genome sighed, his gaze faraway for a moment. "It's like all that belongs to a storybook we've chanced upon here on this Island."
Dinner was promptly served, a marvel of Alexandrian culinary delights with hints of desert spices Kuja was so fond of. Everything was set to remind the Queen of home. The Genome hoped it would at least liven her spirits a little. He longed to see her smile.
"Living here," Kuja began whilst toying with his dessert, "has been a bigger challenge than living back on Gaia. Both of us were shipped here and everything was so different, except perhaps for the clothing manner. The laws, the culture, the language... But in a way, it was a new start for me."
He never really told anyone, not even Zidane- though perhaps that was only due to him never having the chance. "There is no arms race here, no cruel creator. Admittedly the boredom at times was enough to drive me mad but...the peace is nice."
