Venom hadn't wasted any time after investigating his new journal and discovering his favorite person was about; he staked out a quiet corner to unobtrusively watch and wait for the Webhead. Well, as unobtrusively as a man of his stature and dual species could, anyway.
He didn't have to wait long; Parker was as punctual as ever. Brock did his best to curb the symbiote's immediate longing to attack, reasoning that he might need the hero alive, at least for a little while.
That guy? So did not look like Eddie Brock. Had the symbiote bonded with someone else? It was very likely, so Spider-Man approached with caution.
"Aw, you were so close, you almost got it right," he mocked, flipping off the crate and standing upright across from the man. "I'm sure you'll get it next time."
"Huh." Eddie frowned, more than a little troubled by this turn of events. Spider-Man's a lot smaller than he remembers. "What happened to you?"
Still, if anyone knew what the arachnid was capable of, it was Eddie. Spider-Man was fast and deceptively strong... and that patter of his got right under Venom's symbiotic skin.
"Our Other still recognizes you..." He added dubiously, "but if you're trying to trick us, we'll eat your spleen with relish."
And Brock was a heck of a lot taller. The eyecovers narrowed just a little bit, like an actual expression, and Spidey shifted weight foot-to-foot. He was always more jumpy than the average person, and this wasn't helping.
"I could ask you the same question." Peter was still analyzing the situation. Brock seemed much more in control than he remembered. "But tricks? No, I would've thought of something much better than this if that were true."
