Gabriel tried to remember the last time he had worn a suit. He was sure this was definitely the first time he had done so on the island. But before? He wasn't sure. His life in his old world seemed so long ago.

Not that he was complaining though. After all, he had friends and a decent business here. He also was able to obtain the occasional ability here as well. Gabriel focused on the glass he was holding and watched as the liquid inside slowly froze. He could do that much faster if he wanted, but why draw attention? Or waste a perfectly good drink?

Looking back at the ball, he scanned the crowd hoping to spot Liz somewhere. He had stopped by her place before but hadn't seen her. He assumed she had just come here, but he had yet to find her. Hopefully she hadn't gotten lost...

Liz fumbled up through the entrance to the ball. High-heels had been one thing, but it didn't help she was wearing such a big, poofy dress. Well, sure, it was something like what a princess would wear... But Jeez it was hard to walk in.

She'd made herself look nice, at least, though it didn't quite fit her as she winced every so often in her attempt to walk. Once she was inside, she craned her neck looking for Syl- Wait, no. That wasn't his name. What was his name?

Just as she struggled to remember, she caught sight of him just to her left. She put on a lazy smile, giving him a short wave.

"Hey, there..." It wasn't Zachary, or Spock... Was it Garmin? No, that was a GPS. Ga... Gabe, Gabby? Ga-

"...You! Heh." She laughed a bit at the end, smiling and hoping she wouldn't have to use his name any time soon.

You? Well alright, that was a different way of greeting. But coming from Liz, that wasn't so unusual to see her doing something different. And he had to admit, she looked pretty good tonight, though she obviously wasn't used to wearing attire quite like that. Not that he had any right to judge, he was sure he'd be struggling just as much, if not more than she was, if he were wearing that outfit.

"Hey you," he replied, walking up to her. He linked his arm through hers, hoping it would steady Liz a little more. "Glad you could make it."

He glanced towards the table filled with food and beverages. "You want some refreshments?"

She was a little caught off guard when he hooked arms with her. It wasn't like they had hung out a lot... Actually, she didn't think she'd met him in person before. That was a little awkward.

Oh well.

"Well, you know. Wow... That's a castle, alright. Hopefully this'll be better than the last one I went to... There aren't any princes here, are there? And- Wow, are those teacakes?!"

Liz seemed to tense up a little when he was near her, but it didn't bother him too much. At least she wasn't running away. At least, not yet anyways.

Then she started talking... and he wasn't sure where to begin answering.

"I haven't met any princes yet," he decided to start at. "And yes, I do believe those are teacakes."

And with that, Gabriel led them over to the part of the table she had just taken an interest in.

Liz didn't waste much time in taking one of the bits of food and promptly taking a bite. Wow... They were good! She turned towards... Sylar.

"Yeah, I met one once. Some German prince of somewhere," She spoke while chewing, making her words somewhat sloppy in sound.

"It was his birthday party... Too bad he died, at the end."

He died? Gabriel had always thought Liz had come from one of the more sane worlds. And at his birthday party no less. God, that sounded so cliche, it was unbelievable.

It was also unbelievable that he understood most of the words she spoke through those mouthfuls of food...

"I've never met anyone from Germany," he replied.

"Though I have encountered some interesting people from India and Japan." Yeah, Sureshes. The father he had killed, and son who had tried to stop him on multiple occasions. Ando, who had never done much. And then Hiro, the one who had driven a sword through his chest.

Liz remembered the many things that happened at that party. Boy, was that crazy. She finished chewing on her sandwich, starting to think out loud the things that had happened.

"Apparently, he was allergic to... grapes? And he drank some campaign, so, you can imagine how well that worked for him. And... His eyebrow, fell off...?" Her face turned slightly confused and questioning at the last part, and she brought a hand up to point to her own eyebrow.

"I studied in Germany during college, actually. I can speak German, too. I even negotiated a business deal with a German television studio, once."

A couple feet down the table from Gabriel and Liz, three girls donned in different, yet each still beautiful, white dresses. They were speaking in hushed tones, though every now and then their voices rose in volume as they got -- excited? Worried? Frustrated? By whatever their topic of discussion was.

"...shadhavar have been droppin' like flies, girls, ... said so himself..." The blonde girl spoke with a low voice, putting emphasis on the last few words as she faced the girl on her right who was the closest to Gabriel and Liz just down the table ( ... )

The longer the story went on, the stranger it seemed to get. The man must have been pretty stupid to just drink if he was allergic to it. But the eyebrow falling off? It seemed as strange to her as it was to him. Gabriel figured he should probably turn the conversation to the latest info she had given him.

"Germany? Well that must have been..."

It was then that he heard the snippets of conversation from the ladies just a little further down the table. Shadhavars dying? He wondered what could be causing that. To assume it was one of the other offworlders wasn't too much of a stretch, but Gabriel just didn't feel like that was it. He almost asked them about it, but they left before he had a chance to.

"... interesting." He concluded, turning his attention back to Liz.

Liz turned towards the group of women. They seemed like they worked there...

"Excuse me? Hey- Do you have any of these with turkey...?" Her voice started to fade as they walked away. Talk about rude.
"Yeah, a lot of help you were." She muttered under her breath.

She turned back towards... Sylar? Ugh, she felt bad even mentally calling him that. It wasn't his fault he looked just like the character. Ah, well.

"I don't think they heard me."

He wondered if Liz had heard anything of what the girls had been saying. Probably not, she seemed preoccupied with the food on the table at the moment. What they said may not have even mattered to her. She had never even gone into the jungle, so she never would have seen any of the shadhavars.

"I guess not," Gabriel responded. He looked around the table and saw a sandwich that appeared to have turkey, or something close to turkey, on it. "Here's one, I think."

He decided not to worry much about what the girls had said. No point in dwelling on what he couldn't help.

"Anyway, you had mentioned you had gone to Germany. Have you been to any other countries?"

Liz caught sight of the sandwich he described and didn't waste time in grabbing it. She frowned a bit as she looked the sandwich over from different angles. It... sort of looked like turkey. With a shrug she took a bite.

"Yup. Studied there for my Junior year. I don't really travel all that much outside the US, really. What about you?"

She certainly didn't waste time with food, that's for sure. Gabriel tried to take a sip from his drink, but only a little dripped out. He looked at his glass and realized most of it was still frozen. Too bad he didn't have a fire ability as well as ice.

"I mostly keep to the US too." So many memories of his travels, most of them about people he had killed. So many powers he had taken...

"Though there was that one time I ended up in South America..." Yeah, right after Hiro had impaled him with a sword and Candice had dragged him away.

She tilted her head as she listened to him. Well, so far he seemed normal enough. At least he didn't seem to be from one of those really weird worlds...

"South America? Wow, what were you doing down there?" She glanced down and noticed his all but frozen glass, frowning slightly in confusion.

"Wow... I didn't know they served drinks that cold. Is that... normal, around here?" Liz turned slightly to glance around the room.

Damn, she noticed it. What could he do though? He had no way to melt it, but hide it maybe? That could work. In the moment she turned, Gabriel used Telekinesis to quickly move the frozen glass under the table and out of sight while bringing a fresh drink to his hands. That was close.

"I think it's just about the same as the others," he replied, acting as if nothing was out of place. He took a drink, for some reason his throat had gotten a little dry. Nerves maybe? Didn't matter.

"As for South America," he continued, hoping to make her forget about the drinks. "I was kinda brought there by friends. It was like one minute I'm in New York, and the next I was down there. Only we got separated and... well it was a bit of a thrill having to sneak back over the border."
