Mary had left the inn shortly after Shuichi had fallen asleep, and then taking a key to the apartment [leaving one for Shuichi should he decide to leave in plain sight], left after making sure it was locked. In the time she'd spent with Shuichi, Yuki had neither come for him or wrote for him in the journals, she'd checked, and Mary was more than a little annoyed by the turn of events.

That poor boy had spent the better part of his night crying, because his boyfriend had bypassed harsh at top speed and gone right to cruel, and the man hadn't even had the nerve to come and get him later? Had he really thought the boy should just sleep all night at the park?

She'd moved herself to a cafe, to act on the thought she'd had earlier. And away from Shuichi to avoid waking him, after a crying fit like that, he needed to sleep. Finding himd was easy using the journals, though she still didn't trust the idea of using them too often, and he'd agreed to come. She'd gotten the impression that he believed she'd taken Shuichi against his wishes, and she didn't bother to argue it.

It had taken him less time to get there than she'd expected. And he made quite the intimidating picture, though if he thought that was going to get him his boyfriend back, he was sadly mistaken. Taking a sip of her tea, she nodded her head to the chair across from her.

"Take a seat."

Her strict tone immediately set Yuki off. No way was Shuichi staying with her for any longer. He tossed a glare at her, plopping down into the seat directly across from her. He pulled his pack of cigarettes out of his pocket-- he was down to only three now-- and lit up, letting the silence linger in the air for a moment, before he took a drag, and then began speaking again. "I guess you didn't hear me. Where is he?"

"I heard you, I just think you're getting the impression that you show up here and I'll go give him to you. When, I believe what I said was, you could have him in the morning if you met me. I wanted to speak with you." She tilted her head and regarded him for a moment.

"You've already agreed and so here we are." She wasn't exactly trying to be mean, but honestly, if the man was worried it would do him some good. Mary wasn't writing him up and sticking him in a neatly labled slot of 'bad guy', as she believed people made mistakes and that was alright as long as they learned from them, but it didn't appear Yuki was learning.

Shuichi got upset, and either went off on his own, or was kicked out. He spent the next hours completely alone and crying, and then Yuki came and got him and so then clearly, the issue was fixed. When all that really happened was Shuichi was happy for any affection he actually did get, and honestly believed Yuki meant the awful things he said.

She didn't like that at all. "So, explain to me exactly how 'drop dead' sounds affectionate for you?"

Yuki blinked, letting his cigarette drop a little. Oh, so that was what this way about. This woman had taken it upon herself to lecture him about his treatment of Shuichi. Well, fine, he'd sit through it, if he had to. But he wasn't going to taken everything she said so easily. Still, if he fought her about it, she might not tell him where Shuichi was... Looks like he would have to compromise a little bit.

"Shuichi knows I don't mean half the things I fucking say to him. It's his own damn fault for overreacting," he said evenly.

Mary shook her head sharply, and frowned at him over the rim of her tea cup. "But he doesn't. He believes you mean them. That you say them in anger, sure. But that you mean them. Have you ever told him otherwise?"

Taking a sip of her drink before it got too cold, she shrugged her shoulders lightly. "I don't think he was over reacting under the circumstances. Especially when you kicked him out. Which, what on earth were you thinking?"

She paused, "that's assuming of course, that you were. Because you are infact here, and so I assume you've realized quite possibly what you've done." And while the wording was less than polite, Mary just didn't get angry. She got frustrated or annoyed, or even offended on someone's behalf. But her tone was always even and soft with some emphasis placed on a few choice words.

"If he thinks I mean them, why does he bother staying with me," he muttered, taking another drag on this cigarette. The question lingered in the air for a moment, before he continued. "And no, I wasn't thinking; I just assumed he'd come back on his own anyways. Like he always does. This is only the second time that he hasn't." Which, to be honest, frustrated Yuki to no end. Yuki had said he was going to try to change, and yet, the first time he said something too mean, Shuichi ran off. It almost takes away the incentive to change, he thought to himself.

"So, is this all? You just wanted to sit me down and tell me to treat him better?" It was hard to keep the anger out of his voice, and Yuki wasn't even really trying.

"Do you really even need to ask that question? He loves you. Very much infact. But do you feel the same way about him?" Mary eyed the cigarette with vague disapproval. Yuki didn't seem like such a bad guy, just...Emotionally stunted. The last thing he really needed to do was give himself cancer. However, she held her tongue. She needed him to sit and listen, not get too angry and storm off.

"Well, while you were waiting for him to come back, he was intending to stay at the park until morning if he had to, until you came to get him."

She was about to say more when he broke in with his questions, and Mary raised her eyebrows and pursed her lips into a flat line for a moment, the universal expression of a mother indicating how unimpressed she was with the current way he was behaving.

"No. I want you to realize that your actions have consequences and that you should seriously consider changing what you're doing. He was intending to stay at the park, he was already feeling sleepy after crying so hard before we'd left."

Mary crossed one leg over the other and shifted so she was sitting up a little taller, and rested her elbows on the table to lean a little closer. The place was relatively empty, but people were still there, and really? No one else need to over hear this.

"And what do you think would have happened if he'd fallen asleep? Hm? And even if he was awake. Your boyfriend is incredibly trusting. I listened to him and I hugged him and he was willing to follow me home. He didn't know me, and I could have done anything."

Her own eyes narrowed a little and she continued calmly. "I also read the journals while I was waiting for you to respond. There's some man obsessed with knives, a few creepy little children, a woman obsessed with pulling out hearts, and quite a few people looking for weaponry. What if one of them had found him? You sent him away, in the middle of the night, with no where to go."

Yuki growled. Who did this woman think she was, Shuichi's mother? "Yes, I feel the same, and he damn well knows that." He knocked the ash of his cigarette, and continued. "If he wasn't back by morning, I'd have gone to look for him. You saw I jumped straight on your entry about him. I was up and waiting for him."

God, he felt like he was being treated like a child. "Listen, if it'll shut you up, I won't tell him to 'drop dead' anymore, but he's my fucking boyfriend, not yours. I have the say in how I act to him."

What she said about Shuichi being trusting though, bothered Yuki, although even if Mary was right, he didn't want to give in.

"If he knew that, why would he assume you actually wanted him to die?" She was entirely unfazed by his anger. It was understandable in some sense, to have some random person you just met lecture you on a relationship you knew more about. However, he clearly wasn't in the habit of admitting he was wrong and correcting it. He still seemed alright with the idea that someone like Shuichi should be left alone, outside in the middle of night, with all of them out there.

"Did you hear what you just said? If he wasn't back by morning, and by then, anything could have happened to him! You're lucky all he ran into was me. He might be your boyfriend, but you'd do yourself a favour acting like it. I can't tell you what to do, and I'm not trying to."

Finishing off her tea and pushing it towards the middle of the table and away from her, trying to think the best way to word what she next wanted to say. Mary was hoping that eventually some of this might sink through, and that he wouldn't really use the tactic of appeasing her to make her leave him alone.

"I'm trying to tell you that what you're doing is obviously hurting Shuichi and if you'd like to continue your relationship as it is, it would be in your best interests to change. Have you considered making requests for space, with the word please? I heard it works really well."

"Shit- Did he really think I wanted him to--" He didn't continue with his question, instead leaving in lingering. Stupid brat should have known better. But Yuki supposed, it was his own fault for sounding too serious. Not that he would admit to that, of course. "Whatever, I'll apologize, tell him I was kidding or some shit. He'd forgive me in a heartbeat anyways."

Another drag on the cigarette as Mary continued talking-- God, she was awfully annoying-- before he had to break in. "Bullshit, you are trying to tell me to grow up and treat him right or something; I'm not stupid."

So he was frustrated. Who did this person think she was? And now, it looked like her and Shuichi were friends, which meant that Yuki would probably have to see her again. That is, if he ever got his Shuichi back in the first place. "Look, I told him I was trying to be nicer, and I am. You think this is bad? You should have seen us before. I'll work harder or something, but it's not going to fucking change overnight."
