For the past month since Sora's death and the abandonment of their house, Nise and Riku have both been staying at Rivelata's Inn, in a one room apartment-styled place. Ever since that incident, Nise's been unable to comfortably sleep for more than two hours, without waking up frightened and trembling from nightmares - not to mention clinging onto Riku, as they sleep on the same bed. He's developed somewhat of a paranoia now, thanks to the Corinthian; he's afraid that if he doesn't keep to Riku's side at all times, he'll leave him too. He wouldn't be able to handle that, he wouldn't be able to withstand another loss without crumbling completely.
His sleep had gotten better though after all this time. Riku often wrapped his arms around Nise and kept him feeling safe and secure in those crucial moments of weakness. But now Nise had grown accustomed to sleeping alongside his original, sometimes pressed up back to back or facing each other, for midnight hugs, always close so that Nise felt and knew that Real Thing was there.
It was past midnight. Maybe one or two in the morning - Nise woke up often during the night - and he felt tired as usual. He was a little groggy as he rolled over to his side, to face Riku, and suddenly felt so... elated. Well, it was slightly euphoric but not so energetic per se. It was calming and ... extremely soothing - he was quite shocked at all these, well for a lack of better word, fluffy feelings he was experiencing as he stared at Riku. It was strange to say the least. Riku looked the same but suddenly it was like Nise realized just how handsome the other was! He couldn't help but gaze at Riku as the other slept soundly. It was the only time when he looked truly peaceful, but tonight gave him an extra... glow, so to say. Riku's hair was sprawled all over the pillow, and framing his face nicely. Nise gazed at him for a few heartbeats, and lightly touched Riku's face, brushing the loose strands of hair away and hooking them behind his ear. His fingers touched Riku's cheek - it felt soft, then warm against his palm. It was nice... being so close to Riku like this. He let out a quiet sigh and shut his eyes, shifting so that their foreheads touched and his arm comfortably wrapped around the others waist. He felt that tonight, unlike every other night before, he would be able to sleep contently.
