Matsuda had disappeared as quickly as he'd appeared. On one hand, this was good since it seemed that L had already gotten him on his side, but bad in that a mysterious disappearance could only be used as further proof by the detective.
Light didn't communicate with the outside world, not through the journals or personal interactions. It was unlike him, and it was unsettling. It seemed the Note wouldn't work again no matter what.
Needing to clear his head, he made his way down to the beach, not expecting anything of much consequence to happen.
