WHO: Lelouch Lamperouge and Aino Minako
WHAT: Awkward comfort between friends, and possibly secrets revealed
WHERE: The Lamperouge Household
WHEN: Day 287, evening
Lelouch was... troubled, to say the least, as he brooded alone in his room, one crystal in each hand. Rivelata, it seemed, had a way of finding his weak points and hammering at them until he was on the verge of breaking. He had kept to himself for the past few days, trusting his staff and his friends to handle the running of the Pizzeria in his absence. While the thought of his own death was something he could push out of his mind, and even, on some level, accept enough to continue to operate, the thought of Nunnally's death made him feel so weak, so small, so helpless, so useless.
These visions... they could, naturally, be exactly as he had postulated initially, just representations of their deepest fears and desires, and how appropriately his own vision fit his theory, he supposed, but he couldn't deny that, placed in the scenario he had seen, he would have acted exactly as the Lelouch in the vision did-- a move that could easily have cost his dear sister her life. Even if she did not, in fact, die, he had been unable to save her, the one person he desired to protect above all else.
What, he wondered, could he do to prevent it? Despite his intellectual prowess, every theory, every possible explanation for their situation returned again and again to the same answer: Nothing. If he left here, if this occurred, then, unable to remember the events of Rivelata or the -- he was trapped.
Unless he was able to grasp power here, power not merely to protect, power not merely to preserve, but to change, and, by necessity, to destroy. Power over time and space. To become one of the Lords of Oltretomba... Even if it denied him his humanity, as long as he was able to protect Nunnally, to change the world for her... That would be enough. And with that power, besides, could he not protect his other friends, could he not save Euphie from death, save Suzaku from that long-ago sin of killing his own father? Could he not bring his own Father to justice for his crimes? The path, he knew, would not be simple, would not be clean. His hands would be stained with yet more blood, he knew, before this was over... But that was not the first step. No, first... first he would master the crystals, Subaru's last gift to him, and the tools, supposedly, of the Godking himself. Once he knew them fully, or as fully as he could at this moment, he would go again to the woman mage, and ask again that she teach him her arts. He could no longer rely on Geass and the strength of others alone. No, he would gather to himself every power, every skill he could in pursuit of this goal, for, he knew now, it would be the only way he could ever free himself from these chains of fate.
