Being the owner of the cafe, Yuuko was, of course, the first there. She was already ready to go, dressed in her winter coat. She had had Watanuki and Mokona decorate the cafe with wreaths, garlands and butterfly ornaments, and she herself had hung a sprig of mistletoe over the door. She wondered how many of the carollers would take advantage of it.

She sipped some tea and hummed. Her voice was slightly husky, but it was a rich, dark alto. She did not sing often, but her voice was well-controlled and contained the same melodious tone that she had when she spoke. She smiled to herself. This would be fun.

Troy barged into the Cafe a few moments before sundown, his arms loaded with paper. He'd written neatly the lyrics to three or four Christmas carols - We Wish You A Merry Christmas, Deck the Halls, and so on - and had spent all day making about twenty copies of each so that everyone would be able to sing the words.

Shaking the snow out of his hair and stamping his shoes clean in the entryway, Troy headed inside, looking for Yuuko and the others.

Ryan had his hand hooked in Chad's while they walked. He was dressed fabulously warm and was trying to annoy Chad by singing random snippets of holiday songs. He had just gone through three or four and was about to start a new one when he saw the mistletoe in the doorway of the cafe. Ryan smirked and jogged forward to lean on the door jamb.

"Blame it on the mistletoe,
‘cause what happened here nobody knows.
How could something simple as a kiss
change my holiday like this~?"

Chad rolled his eyes. It was too damn cold to sing back at Ryan, what did he expect? And why, why did his boyfriend insist on turning up the charm when they were around people. Especially when "people" included Troy. Yeah, he was okay with it, but it still made Chad all flustered.

But none of that really mattered at the moment, because there was a Ryan under the mistletoe waiting for him. Chad leaned in and kissed him softly, touching their foreheads together with a contented smile.

Of course, watching his best friend make out with a guy WAS a little weird (well, not even weird, just a little... unexpected). So Troy did what all good friends should do when they catch their BFFs making out.

Troy wolf-whistled at them and started chanting "Chad and Ryan, sitting in a tree~!"

It wasn't that he was a drama kid and it wasn't that he liked the attention. Okay, maybe it was because he was a drama kid and he liked the attention. But mostly it was because Ryan liked being near Chad and liked showing the world that he liked being near Chad. He hardly ever got to flaunt what he had, so he liked taking advantage of it while he had it. Shar would change all that.

Ryan kissed Chad and smiled back at him, "I love you."

And then Troy said something and Ryan sighed. He rolled his eyes and turned around.

"Don't even start, Bolton. Did I ever make comments about you and Gabriella?"

Mr. H strode in himself, interested in meeting the wide variety of inhabitants in this city, had taken up Troy's offer to help out. In each hand was clutched a thermos, one of coffee and one of coco.

He smirked a little at the mistletoe, before slipping through the door. He saw Troy and two other teenage boys teasing each other, so he chose to head over to the beautiful woman standing in the corner. Setting down the containers he extended his hand and said, "Hello, I'm Sanae Hanekoma. I take it you are the proprietor of this business?"

Yuuko turned from away from the antics of the young boys and smiled at Hanekoma. She shook his hand.

"That is correct. My name is Yuuko Ichihara."

Hanekoma nodded thoughtfully, adding, "Ah yes, I believe we spoke briefly over the journals. I must say, those are some fascinating constructs. I'd love a chance to take them apart and see how they make them.

Yuuko laughed lightly. "I don't believe that dissecting the journals would get you closer to understanding how they work."

Hanekoma laughed as well. "You're probably right. I'm afraid my instincts as a tinkerer are hard things to ignore, but I suppose they're a bit different from the cellphones and computers back home."

Not that a camera phone that could take pictures of the past was all that normal, but he somehow forgot to mention that part.

"Habits are a hard thing to break," she said knowingly.

"Particularly the ones we develop in our youth," he replied, his grin decidedly mischievous.

"How true," she said. She looked at the thermoses he had brought.

"Coffee and cocoa?" she asked.

Hanekoma smiled when Yuuko looked at the thermoses, pleased she had noticed his beverages. If there was one thing he loved more than tinkering, it was coffee.

"My personal passion and a concession to the holiday spirit respectively. I've found warm beverages to be in high demand this time of year, and while I don't have as much experience with cocoa, I thought this was a good chance to broaden my horizons a bit."
