WHO: Chang Wufei, Duo Maxwell, Thumbelina, and Hilde Schbeiker
WHAT: In which they all run the final test on Duo and Hilde's prototype go kart
WHERE: Outside their house
WHEN: In the afternoon
It was a tight fit in the go kart.
Wufei and Thumbelina sat shotgun. Duo sat in the driver's seat, while Hilde sat in the backseat -- such as it was. "Congratulations on finishing your insane project, "Wufei announced cautiously, eying his new and strange surroundings. "Thank you for ... inviting me to supervise the final test drive." It would be shameful to let any customers drive it, until it'd been tested, after all. And Wufei was damn going to make sure Maxwell had set a clear race course -- one that didn't pass directly through their and Wufei's living room wall.
The interior of Duo and Hilde's crazy project was unpolished. All the wires lay nested in their metal casings. The windshield was a half sheet of clear plastic. Wufei knew that his fellow pilot would have spared no expense on his latest mechnical darling's hardware, but to the outside, the go kart looked fairly ridiculous. The steering wheel was a dinner plate from their table. The seats were covered in rugs bought with 1 silver noble coins from the marketplace.
The seatbelts ...
When Wufei realized there were no seatbelts in the go-kart; he reminded himself he wasn't afraid to die. Maxwell wouldn't kill them. Probably. After all, Maxwell had not ever, during the war, run Deathscythe off a cliff just for the heck of it. Not to mention Duo Maxwell might be a risk taker and adrenaline junkie, but even he wouldn't risk innocent passengers' lives for a fix -- here Wufei glanced at Thumbelina, who'd fallen asleep in the messenger bag (NOT A MAN PURSE, THANK YOU very much) nestled carefully under his arm.
Oh, who was he kidding.
Maxwell needed supervision, if only for Wufei's peace of mind..
