"Oh?" L glanced up to look at the hole. He nodded at her comment about how it was easy to fix. She appeared to be good with that kind of stuff. Then again, that was coming from the person who tore apart his clothes by their seams, which meant she had more skills than just tearing apart clothing.
He looked down at his book. If he wanted, he could read about sewing and try to fix his own clothes. ...Right. Knowing his luck, Aly would laugh at him, and tell everyone. He already was in contact with enough people as it was. He saw no true use of being friends of someone who tries to pair you together with someone for the hell of it but she seemed to have some value.
Who else was there? L still had to prove that Misa and Light were working together and Light was Kira. And then there was this woman in front of him. The untrustworthy kind of woman. The one with a false smile and a cruel laugh. She enjoyed making things hard for L.
...He could ask her if she would fix his shirts for him. She did say that if he was good... But L was not up for resorting to such a thing. "Where did you get these terrible things?" L questioned, meaning the pale colored clothing on him.
She kept sewing the hem. "A tailor's store." She replied evasively, smiling down at the cloth, "Were you thinking of buying more?" She pretended to prick a finger and sucked on it, looking up at him with wide, innocent eyes. She removed the finger and analyzed it, then turned it to him, "No more blood," with that, she began looking at the cloth, "None here either, how fortunate."
Her fingers ran over the fabric and then began folding it, placing it back in the basket. Aly stood and raised her arms, yawning. Her muscles relaxed after the stretch. She settled back on her bed, pulling her legs to the side in a proper sitting posture.
After all, she was a maid, even here. She took a sip of her tea.
L gave her an annoyed look. "Not at all. I was just wondering what business thought that they were doing a justice selling these kinds of things." He told her, unwrapping the top of his bag. He pulled out a sucker and place it in his mouth.
"Impressive." He muttered, staring at the pink ball. "Your blood clotted much quicker than a normal person. That or you did not draw blood. Either way, needles can be a terrible pain, don't you think?" He twisted the stick of his sucker before placing it back in his mouth.
L was bored at the moment. He had already read his book. Maybe when he was done here, he could go to the library again. But that would mean he would have to leave again...
She smiled sweetly at him, obviously feigning innocence. "Many people enjoy fashionable clothes." Aly gently placed the half-finished dress into a sewing basket. The spy hummed a little. "If you have any clothes that have holes in them, I'm more than willing to fix them~"
She pulled out a shirt that had a rip down the side. How awfully inconvenient. Setting back on her bed, she took out scissors and snipped the seam totally. The blouse fell apart in her lap and she put the extra fabric under the skirt before going back to her closet.
Maybe he'd get the hint. Maybe not. She always enjoyed putting people off-balance. "And I wonder if I do have special blood... Hm... I never gave much thought to it..." She poked a foot up in the air as she reached into the back of a box.
Well, she did have special blood. If you included her blue blood.
L's black eyes glanced up at the fake blonde. "There are those people." He said lowly, looking down. Obviously, he did not like them so it did not matter to him if others did. Maybe it was like that saying, "Misery loves company."
L looked back up Aly and bit softly on the sucker in his moouth. "You wonder if you have special blood?" He questioned, tilting his head slightly to the side. "No one wonders if they have special blood. I did not even bring up the topic." His eyes stayed planted on the woman. "So what would make you say something like that?" L began with his interrogation to find more about Aly once again.
Oh... Darn, she thought dramatically. She'd let her mask slip an inch. Oh, whatever would she do except play with his words? Another game was on... O~oh this was going to be interesting and fun.
She giggled and winked, "I bet country maids wonder if there's anything special about them all the time, wouldn't you agree. Why, their heads are so full with cotton and clovers that they wonder if a great power resides within them and a knight is waiting to sweep them off their feet in some grand adventure."
Aly pulled out her unfinished sewing and began to sew almost absently, as if the thought he'd caught on disturbed her.
"I supposed maids from your world do." He said, shrugging softly before staring at the open book under him. L had read plenty of books in his time. Maybe Aly's case was like a book, where people had superpowers. If there were shinigami back in his world, who knew all the possibilities this place could have.
"Assume they did have something special about them." L began. "What do you think would be 'special'? Let's say, for instance, your blood reference. How would their blood be different?" He asked without looking at her. "Something that would make their blood clot faster. Maybe it could be more oxygenated so that the body would not need to breath as much to keep up a constant and healthy circulation." For the time being, it appeared as though L was just talking to himself. Finally, he turned to Aly, despite looking busy as she sew.
She smiled at him, "Of course they do. What girl doesn't dream of romance?" Aly sighed dramatically. Sure, she thought of love and kisses, but she hadn't found a boy worth the time it took to train them to kiss properly. They all bored her too quickly.
She glanced at him, eyes widening as if he'd caught onto something. "What do you mean by all that?" Blood clotting was a topic she'd studied between her family's mages and her healer mother. However, 'oxygenated' wasn't a word she was familiar with. By the way he referenced the later parts of the sentences, she guessed it had to do with breathing and blood in the internal sense, carrying something, perhaps.

Romance? Was that what he had meant? L shrugged off the thought. He guessed that all girls hoped for romance so it was on all of their minds. L never really was romantically interested in anyone. There were attractive people, like Misa and Naomi, but L was far to busy to have a love interest.
L pulled out the stick of his sucker, showing that everything was gone. He tossed it over to a table by him, then looked back at Aly. "When you get a cut on your skin, you bleed if it's deep enough. The deeper it is, the more you bleed. Well, your blood has things in it called platelets that will help close the cut before your skin can heal." He tried to explain so she could understand. "When your blood has oxygen, it's red but if not, it's blue. Breathing helps get oxygen for to keep your heart beating and your heart pumping. I could only assume that maybe if there was a way that your blood was more oxygenated, then there would be a way to last longer without breathing and keep your heart pumping." In the process of talking, L's thumb had found it's way to his lips.
