Wholesale NPC slaughter! [Complete]

Oct 27, 2008 21:05

WHO: Hisoka justamagician
WHAT: Hisoka proves that he is, sometimes, somewhat more than just a magician. (Slaughter in the market place! A little long, a bit bloody. You've been warned.)
WHERE: The Market
WHEN: Evening of Day 214, after the log with hyper_thief

Hisoka had been patient. Hisoka had been very patient. Since arriving he'd kept to himself, peaceably training himself into exhaustion every night at the beach before returning to the town only to eat and sleep. He hadn't killed anyone, he hadn't even fought anyone. He'd been very patient.

But the fruits of his training had been disappointingly small, withered little things. He'd managed to regain some control of his Nen power, but only enough to slice open skin with playing cards. He wasn't going to be sending cards thudding through skulls again any time soon at the rate he'd been going, and he'd known it.

And then... Rikku. Rikku, and her little toy. She'd managed to escape being killed, but not without giving up her sphere to him. The fight had stirred up his blood though, to a point that he recognized he wouldn't be able to recover from on his own.

And so slow, purposeful steps took him towards town. The town, where he was sure to find plenty of bodies ripe for the splitting. Plenty of blood waiting to be spilled. And the sphere burned a pleasantly warm heat against his back, tucked away as it was into a hidden pocket. It promised return of enough of his power to be worth his while. Wide eyes turned up from the ground as he neared the market. Dusk was beginning to fall now, most of the patrons had gone home. Unfortunate, but surely Hisoka could still manage to find a few stragglers...

The first he sighted was a shopkeeper, closing up her fruit stand. Hisoka didn't even break his stride. The Three of Hearts struck with a papery flip into the center of her forehead, and the woman was dead before her body toppled over backwards. The second victim was a young man, striding down the street with his head bowed over a wrapped parcel. A Spade suit ended his walk in a spurt of blood. Hisoka took a quivering breath. The smell was delicious. The next two were killed just as quickly, but the fifth happened to see the bodies before he saw Hisoka. The man's eyes widened and his mouth opened to yell, but Hisoka was there before he could make a sound, a hand around the man's throat. Fingers squeezed, tightened, and pulled, and there was a distinct gurgle and no more from the man. Beautiful.

The entire thing was over in eight blood-spattered minutes. Eleven corpses left to be discovered, and Hisoka was feeling a good deal better about himself. He'd be calmer once more, more in control. He wouldn't need to kill again for at least as long as he'd waited this time. He glanced down with mild disapproval at his bloodstained clothing. But that could be taken care of in the sea water before he returned to his rented home.

He'd sleep well tonight.
