Riful padded down the streets with an easy, deliberate grace only a "child" of her size could achieve, glancing up toward the heavens where the snakes flew, their swirling, erratic paths cutting through the evening sky. They were such strange, beautiful creatures, she thought, absentmindedly flexing her arms and frowning briefly when it became apparent that she could not transform. Had her yoki been dampened that severely? No matter. These odd beasts would be easy enough to capture ( ... )

Of course the Queen's forces were mobilized during such a time. Thus, Grell preened his uniform and lovingly carried his scythe with pride. It wasn't often he could take it out in public without causing panic amongst people.

Humming a waltz as he walked, the Reaper made his way down the street before spotting the young girl.
"Pleasant Evening, Little Miss." He greeted with a cheery smile, vaulting himself up using a few crates before standing beside her.

"Would you mind a little company whilst you fetch dinner?"

Riful seemed unsurprised at the new arrival, lazily picking bits of serpent flesh out of her fingernails before she turned to address him.

"Hm? You're not scared?" She tilted her head and regarded the man curiously. "That's a beautiful weapon you have, such fine craftsmanship!" The little girl smiled widely, wiping her bloodstained hands on her dress. It was rare that she encountered humans that were so calm at the sight of her...then again, given the nature of this place it was entirely possible this odd gentleman wasn't human at all. Regardless, she always appreciated company.

"Of course, you can stay~ I don't mind...it might get a little messy though."

Ah, the poor dear didn't know! How refreshing. Grell smiled, all his teeth razor sharp canines. His eyes were a little too intensely green. Almost a glowing yellow, even...

"Why thank you, Little Miss, I do admire Her greatly." He swung the scythe, idly taking out a snake in the process. "Lieutenant Grell Sutcliff at your service, Little Miss. You'll find I'm not quite the ordinary human many mistake me for."

Grell sighed, taking her hand and kissing the back of it.
"Let us make a beautiful mess, Little Miss. How often do we get such a fun opportunity, hm?"

Given her long lifespan, very little startled Riful, but she could not help a slight gasp of surprise when Grell smiled. Her initial shock faded quickly, however, and she returned his smile.

"My name is Riful, and I've gathered as much. It's so nice to meet you! Such a gentleman..." The girl giggled when he kissed her hand and nodded eagerly at his suggestion, her eyes bright with childlike mirth.
"That sounds like a wonderful idea."

"It is a pleasure, Miss Riful." He gave a flourishing bow. "I rarely find friends here who want to have fun with me in such a manner."

"But we can't pass up such a chance!" Giggling, he took her hand and guided her to leap onto the next rooftop with him. He swung his scythe, flesh standing no chance when it came into contact with the curved blade.

"Do they taste any good?" The Reaper asked with a laugh. "I'm afraid I've never tried this sort of cuisine before. Maybe afterwards I'll cook you a lovely English stew with some of the snakes we kill."

"Hmm~ It's pretty good." Riful grabbed an attacking serpent by the jaws, tearing the creature in half with scarcely any effort. "A meal is a meal, after all, and it's fresh..." The child ignored the blood spatter, almost as if she were bored by the events transpiring. "And a bit of sport, I guess, though they are pretty stupid, aren't they? Just attacking indiscriminately... I wonder what they're looking for?"

Riful observed Grell's skill with the scythe for a moment, tilting her head. "If you don't mind my asking, what are you exactly? You're definitely not human, moving like that~ Most humans just swing wildly at you for a minute before--" the Abyssal One giggled, putting a hand to her mouth. "I'm sorry! I just remembered something funny!"

"Some of them are, some of them-" Grell huffed, hating it when he was interrupted especially by such foul-looking creatures. He sliced neatly, the arc of the blade leaving gore in its wake. "-seem to be a lot more intelligent than their comrades seem."

"I'm sure they'll taste nice with some hot spicy broth and vegetables." The redhead quipped, evading their attacks as though it were a fancy dance. "Or maybe Nozomu can slice them up and make sushi with them."
He grinned, giving her a silly little playful wink.
"After all, I've a feeling they'll be on the menu for quite a while. I wonder how they taste roasted?" Grell laughed at the thought of serving people roasted serpent for supper. "Or perhaps in a pie?"

"As for me, well. Back in London, I am a Field Agent for the English Soul Reaper Division." Smiling broadly, he tapped her nose. "Here they seem to like calling me the Grim Reaper- only I don't think I'm very 'grim' at all, do you?"

Riful looked thoughtful for a moment, glancing toward the sky. "The Grim Reaper...the human's term for the personification of death. What an impressive title! I'm afraid that my own isn't nearly as exciting." The girl smiled briefly at Grell but returned her attention to the snakes right after, taking note of the way they were moving.

"Ah...a distraction. I see. It's too bad I can't change my form...I could finish this easily if so..."

"You can change form? How fascinating!" The Reaper exclaimed with a gasp. "What do you change into?"

He too raised his eyes to the sky, picking up on how the snakes seemed to loom to garner people's attention. To distract from something more sinister, perhaps?
"Anyway, too strong a form and all the fun is taken away!"

Riful smiled perhaps a bit too widely, her eyes seeming to flicker and glow in the dim moonlight.

"Something...big. Maybe you'll get to see it one day!" The girl continued to watch the serpents, squinting her eyes. "All of my senses are dulled...this isn't good at all. If I could get closer, I'd be able to see what they're hiding." Riful's brow furrowed. "And that's true, but I guess I'm not used to being so weak." She sighed, shaking her head. "With this power, I hardly deserve to be called an Abyssal One! It's a good thing some of my enemies aren't here...though I suppose they wouldn't be much better off than I am right now, hm?"
