WHO: Nuala, Abe, Aidan, and Jerek (if everyone wants to participate) WHAT: Aidan and Jerek are taking care of Nuala, Abe goes to help WHERE: An inn WHEN: After this post.
"Oh-- I-- I'm fine, really. I," She turned her head away awkwardly, brushing her hair behind her ears. "I'm ... recovering. I arrived in much worse condition." Nuala hadn't exactly planned to survive the stab wound she'd given herself, after all. Now that she had, the healing process was none too pleasant, but she welcomed this second chance at life.
Strange, though. He couldn't feel properly, either?
She watched him quietly for a moment, attempting to think of a plausible explanation, but having no knowledge of where she was made things considerably more complicated. She hadn't even touched the journal she'd been given upon arrival, though now that she thought of it, she wondered if it might lend a clue. For the moment, the idea was set aside in favor of the topic at hand. How curious it was that Abraham, too, seemed to suffer from the same dulled senses.
"It's not just me, then," she commented, glancing at her own hands. "I noticed when I arrived that I couldn't ... feel Nuada quite as I had before. I thought it might have been because of the distance between us, wherever he is, or because of my weakened state, but I've noticed it's much more than that. I can't feel anything properly. I feel almost ... incomplete. I ... I'm glad you're here," she said after a moment's pause. "It's almost like a dream, to be here and to see you again. I'm very thankful."
Worse condition? Abe shifted his focus from looking at Nuala like he was trying to memorize her in case she disappeared in front of him to looking for signs of injury. If the last thing she remembered was seeing him and then nothing, did that mean that she arrived here with the knife wound? How was that possible? How had it healed? Abe's hand was already rising from his side to sense the energies in the room before he realized how futile such a gesture was. He waved his hand instead.
"When I arrived, someone pointed me to an explanation in the journal," he held up the book. "It said that magic was weakened here, when it worked at all. I inquired if that extended toward abilities such as ours, and was told that it does. There are moments when I feel as if I am functioning properly, but they rarely last. I don't know why this place affects us like this, but I am researching it."
So far, the research had been fruitless, but Abe was determined to keep at it until he found something useful. Persistent had always paid off before, and unless they had been deliberately destroyed, the answers to the mystery of Rivelata had to be located somewhere.
"I haven't seen the prince in the city, or read his words in the journal, but that doesn't mean that he is not on his way. I never believed I would see you again, and yet here you are. I'm sure he'll be here soon." Whether that was a good thing or a bad thing, Abe wasn't certain. "Maybe when he arrives, it will help you regain your abilities. And of course, I will do everything I can to help. I know it's not the same, but perhaps together we overcome this, whatever it is."
