Hiruma was less than pleased, he had to admit. The recent smattering of killings and violence, both at the disco and of the council members (he was just SO glad Claire hadn't been involved this time) had put a smear on the otherwise relative calm of Rivelata.

He didn't understand WHY people felt the need to do shit like that. Yes, he fully understood the need to "shake things up", but there were other, far less horrible ways to go about it.

Oh well. He wanted to keep his mind off of it, for now. The field itself was as professional looking as it could have been with the supplies available. There were even crude stadium lights for night practice and games. The goalposts were made of tall wooden posts. Hell, the grass was even clipped well.

So, he sat on the bleachers next to his bags of equipment and large firearms, looking over his journal and the rule summary he would give to newbies. The small shadhavar, Amdusias, was dozing in the shade under the bleachers. Hiruma had used him to carry a lot of gear to the field, including a water cooler that'd he'd filled with makeshift sports drink (water, fruit juice, salt, sugar, ice. Very simple. He knew the water was not exactly safe, but he didn't have much of a choice). He groaned and grabbed a football he'd had commissioned from a leather worker from the basket and rolled it over in his hands.

He'd only seen footballs like this in sports museums, made of real leather, that is. It was a entirely different animal, but he enjoyed holding it anyway. It was familiar, something like home. A small smile managed to creep it's way on to his features.

Something normal. No pirates, no turning into a bat, no funky magic, nothing. Just him, the field and the ball.

For now, anyway.
