To say Daisya was pissed off was likely the understatement of the year. He'd seen when Lenalee had arrived and had read what Farfarello said to her - and really, he couldn't blame Farf for being, well... himself, but he was moreover furious and ashamed that he'd been more willing to hide out instead of face the situation - just like he had the first time around.

He was tired of waiting, and he was tired of running.

It had been weeks since he wore his coat, though he trained with the Charity Bell daily and did everything else that House asked of him to regain his strength. He was still thin, still worn, but recovering... and angry. He found that anger was a better emotion to fill the void inside of himself with than self-pity - anger gave him energy, gave him will and strength and everything he'd lacked in the past.

Never again.

This time, though... no matter what had happened, Kanda was his best friend, and there was no way he could have known what had happened. There was no proof it would happen again... especially since Lenalee had expressed no interest in him whatsoever, which was a blow but not a surprise.

Fine, he could deal with that.

What he couldn't deal with was losing the most important friendship he'd had in his whole life, and he wasn't going to let that go again. He'd started to believe in second and third chances, though he knew this place tended to yank them all away on a whim... well. There was no point in worrying about that now.

Standing in the cove where the cave was, black coat fluttering around him and badge flashing in the sun, eyes narrowed and face shadowed... he looked every bit the dangerous, capable person he'd been before.

If he could just match that on the inside, he could finally say, "Everything is fine."
