WHO: Susan Pevensie (sensibly) and Maximum Ride (nixe_eva) and possibly Caspian (notfrom_narnia) WHAT: A day at the beach both for the sun and apologies~ WHERE: The Beach WHEN: Day 115, afternoon
The beach. She hadn't been there since- well, since the last time they had been to Narnia. It had been fun, despite the sand in her hair for days afterwards and the fact that her eyes stung from salt. And so- Susan had been looking forward to this for a little bit. She'd even invited Caspian- although she wasn't sure that he'd come. Susan walked down the streets, barefoot- shoes had seemed like a hassle at the time, towards the beach. Wearing a simple white cotton sundress and loose hair- she felt more at home and comfortable than she'd possibly ever been in England, where everything was stuffy, scratchy and stiff.
Overhead, the sun was blazing, the sand underneath her bare feet burned, and so she ran across the shore towards a girl sitting in the distance- which she supposed would be Max. In truth, Susan had been quite surprised when the other girl had contacted her for this- it seemed slightly out of her character, which from what Susan saw was gruff and sarcastic. Ah, well. It would be rude to refuse. Slowly making her way over to a makeshift tent she smiled, and then stopped for a moment.
The girl had wings.
Well- Susan had seen stranger things in her time at Narnia, but she'd never seen anything like that here. Shaking off her momentary surprise, she didn't gawk as she moved towards her until she was standing right in front of the girl.
"It's Max, am I correct?" she asked, squinting in the bright sunlight with a slight smile.
Max followed Susan's movements as she walked along the beach, paused and then move to stand in front of her. Well, at least her first question hadn't been, "YOU HAVE WINGS?!", which was kind of a useless question when Max sported two, seven foot wings on her lanky, five-foot-eight form. The girl pulled her legs in and stood, dusting off the sand that had gathered.
"Yeah." She tucked a loose strand of blond hair behind her ear and scratched the base of her neck. "Look," Max paused, trying to force herself to apologize. Get past that stupid pride of hers and just say it. "It was stupid of me to tell you that you were being selfish. I wanted the same thing when I first got here, I still kinda do. I know I told you in the journals, but that is just writing. It takes no guts to admit you're wrong when you're just writing it to the person."
Another pause.
"So, I'm sorry for being such a jerk." Max shoved her hands into her pockets and waited for the other girl to say something.
