While Byakuya remained unresponsive on the floor, it was far different in the spiritual plane of the zanpankuto.

Everything was just as dark as it was before, if anything the fog had thickened but Byakuya knew that the fog was nothing compared to the wall that encompassed the area around him. It was different when, instead of being on the outside, he was on the inside. He couldn't remember how it happened. All he knew was that instead of appearing in the normal area whenever Renji and he had tried this, he appeared INSIDE the wall ( ... )

No response from the captain. Well, nothing for it then - C.C. laid a hand on his shoulder and collapsed the barriers between their minds, the red Geass symbol glowing as she connected herself to him, stepping beyond the realms of the physical world and into the mental and spiritual planes. The mist she was used to. The walls were something entirely new.

C.C. put a hand to the wall, hearing the soft voices inside.

"Captain?" She called, applying pressure to the wall little by little to see what happened. "I am C.C.. I contacted you on the journals."

Byakuya raised a hand to quiet the spirits as he heard a muffled voice.

"Yes, this is Byakuya Kuchiki. If you are touching the wall or anything of the sort, I suggest stepping away. It can be... temperamental," Byakuya replied, leaning closer but not touching the wall.

"I can handle temperamental." She channeled a little power into the wall itself, testing its limits, gauging its reactions. She would stop once it started to show signs of hostility, drawing her hand away before pressing it there again to apply a little more power, a little more pressure, agitating and scrambling the forces that held it together.

"How did you end up inside? Are you alone?" Her voice strained a little as exerted herself - this was the first real time in a while she'd used genuine effort.

Byakuya grew a little worried. He appreciated the help but not if someone else would be hurt the same way Renji was. "I am not sure how I ended up inside, actually."

Byakuya really wasn't sure. He entered the plane the same way he normally did, the only difference was that this time... well, he was behind the wall WITH the spirits.

"And no, I am not alone. The zanpakuto spirits are in here, which is why my Lieutenant and I had been here as often as we could. The spirits for our swords have been locked here."

The front door swung open and hit the wall with a slam no one but Renji was conscious enough to hear ( ... )

"The lieutenant, I presume." She turned her head only slightly, trying to keep most of her focus on the wall. "He's been waiting for you."

She knew she couldn't break the wall on her own. The red-haired, banged-up, bruised and battered lieutenant would have to attack it too, along with the captain and the spirits on the inside. It was such a cliched notion, but it would work... however dangerous it would be. She cast a sidelong glance at the man behind her, taking in his scar and his fresher injuries. He wouldn't survive another impaling, it looked like. She almost sighed.

"Captain... your lieutenant is here. If I could guarantee his safety and mine, would you be able to attack the wall from your side? If we strike it all at once it may be enough to break it." The spirits would protect the captain, she hoped.

Byakuya's eyes widened. Renji was here? He wanted to ask how he was, where he was, and many other things but shook his head. No, now was not the time. Later. Definitely later.

Assuming they all made through this alive.

"Give me a moment," Byakuya replied back and looked to Zabimaru and Senbonsakura. He didn't even need to ask, both held expressions that clearly said that would do what would be ordered of them. He nodded to them gratefully. "Yes, we could. Tell me when to attack."

With only himself and the spirits and no plan besides what this girl provided, he would have to rely on her.

Renji swallowed and walked up to the wall. He'd suspected this, but to have it confirmed - Byakuya was behind there, trapped just as Zabimaru and Senbonzakura were - it felt like an iron fist was squeezing his ribcage of all hope.

But this green-haired girl seemed to have a plan - and the wall was barely reacting. Its purpose probably wasn't to hold Byakuya in, then, or it'd be angry.

Gently, he placed the pads of his fingers on the surface of the wall. It hummed under his touch, but didn't move.

"Hey, babe," he said quietly through the wall. "Sorry I'm late."

Byakuya laid in bed as he vaguely heard the loud knocking. He wondered who that could be, though he honestly wasn't in much of a state to really care.

Renji would answer it.

Maybe it was the girl's friends or family? If it is... well, he didn't know what to think. Byakuya just hoped everything would turn out okay... even if he really didn't believe it.

He sighed and settled further in the covers, fighting the urge to throw them from his body but he had to try and get this fever out of his system that did NOT require a bath. In all honesty, he was sure it wouldn't work but maybe after he had some rest, he could get himself into the shower.

Waking up to an ice cold tub is not number one on his list.
