Peter liked to think he had a nice apartment. It was one of the first picked out of Rivelata. It was his home for months, worn in, holding so many memories already. It was small, nice, cozy, and it was better than having to live out on the streets or struggle to pay for rent. In many ways, Peter was lucky.

It did not mean he was completely happy though. Knowing that there were those people out there, and this Susan from - well, he wasn't going to think too much about where she was from - Narnia, young, new, and he couldn't help offering his house up again.

He swore he wasn't going to do it anymore after the house became too crowded, but he missed being able to do more. Offering a helping hand, and it was kind of growing lonely with only Lauren as company (not like she was boring, far from it).

He waited on the stairs inside, waiting for a knock, and when it came, he sprang up to open the door.

Heh, C.S. Lewis's character in the flesh. Wow.

"Susan?" He asked, smiling as sincerely as he could.

She'd been craning her neck to look at the sunset when the door had opened, more quickly than she'd expect. Startled, she nearly jumped and probably would have tripped had she done so. Great. Real graceful. "Oh! Yes, I'm Susan." she said with a nod, returning the smile that seemed to her so genuine that she could not imagine how anyone could fake that.

So instead of nervousness, it was gratefullness that flooded through her now. After all, she hadn't had any idea where she was going to stay when she'd got here. And if people like Rikku and Jojo were to be believed, this place wasn't safe. It was hard to believe that bombings and wars could occur in such a beautiful place. So she'd definitely had not wanted to be caught outside at night.

"Thank you. Again, I mean. This is really- it's really kind of you." Susan finished with another smile, having a vague feeling that she was gushing. How incredibly childish, and she was supposed to be a queen. Upon realizing this, Susan blushed somewhat, refusing to act like a stupid schoolgirl any ( ... )

She was so full of gratefulness, and politeness. Now, it had been years since Peter had read the Chronicles of Narnia. Those books were before his obsession with comics. He'd read C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien to himself at night when he was a boy, imagine himself in far off worlds fighting dragons, and becoming king of a fantasy land. His memory of what had happened in those stories as shaky at best, being replaced with superheroes, being replaced with medical names and illnesses and ways to treat this and that.

Peter stepped aside, beckoning her inside. "It's fine. Really, I'm just glad to help. I wouldn't want you outside by yourself at night. This'll be a good place to start until you get on your feet, ok?"

She'd opened her mouth to thank him again, but then shut it, knowing that she probably sounded much like a broken record right now. So Susan stepped inside, looking around the apartment that reminded her of home. Small and cozy, much like theirs in Finchley. And it brought on a pang that she shook away, shoving away images of her siblings with a vigorous shake of her head ( ... )
