Byakuya's Interview

While he had been told that they may be full, it did not hurt to still check and see if there were anymore openings.

He opened the door to the Pen and the Sword, looking inside for the man named Zexion.

Zexion looked up from the papers on his desk. "Ah, yes, hello. Here to shop...?" he said, testing. He knew full well who this man was and what he was here for, but he wanted to see the other's reactions first.

Byakuya gave a small bow to the man, "No, thank you. I am here to inquire about a job interview."

Byakuya knew this was the man to see, so he waited for the shopkeeper to let him know if the interview was still available or not.

"Ah, excellent," he said. "Come here, sit down."

The tea was still hot. "Byakuya Kuichiki, yes?" he asked, his pen above a piece of paper.

Byakuya nodded, sitting down in the chair and taking the proffered tea, "Yes. And you are Zexion, correct?"

He brought the tea to his lips, waiting for the next question. The tea was a fine mixture of lavender and another he did not recognize.

"Yes," he said. "Now. Tell me of yourself, and what you can bring to our little business here. What are your skills?"

Placing the cup back onto the table, he replied, "I am the Captain of a Soul Reaper Division on my world but also the eldest heir in the Noble Kuchiki clan. Due to this, I am well versed in the art of calligraphy and tea ceremonies, whether formal or not. My status in the Gotei 13 allows me to organize my Squad to not only keep Soul Society safe but to defeat any and all hollows that attack the Living World as well. Like all other Soul Reapers, I possess a zanpakuto, a sword. Zanpakutos are our most prized and valuable weapon, connect to our very soul. Because of this, it is important to keep them on hand and in good condition.

"For this business, I believe using what I know will help benefit you in the production and sale of various types of tea, stationary, and weapons."

A bit stiff, but hey. "hmm. Perhaps. Your skill in the tea ceremony is appreciated, as is calligraphy. Though I'm sure your breeding is very important where you come, here it counts for very little," he said, sipping his own tea.

"I am well aware," Byakuya replied. "However, I was raised to explain when talking about myself, I apologize. I meant no offense."

He also took another sip of the tea, finding it quite good.

Zexion pushed a brush, ink, and paper across the table. "Could you perhaps demonstrate your calligraphy for me?"

Taking the brush, he dipped it into the ink and replied, "Of course. is there anything specific you would like me to write?"

Zexion gave a slightly malicious smirk.

"Try the kanji for rose. Bara, I believe the word is?"

[[ooc: 薔薇. Zexion is a bastard; this is one of the hardest kanji to write.]]

Byakuya nodded, his face impassive even though he saw the smirk easily enough.

Bringing brush to paper, his hands deftly formed the kanji in fluid, neat strokes.

"Hmm. Your hand is quite impeccable, however," he paused. "I'm afraid that you're really not what we're looking for. If you like we can accept calligraphy on a commission basis if anyone should ask for it, but this is unlikely. Thank you."

"I understand. Thank you for taking the time to see me and also for the tea. I bid you a good day," he bowed and walked out.

Once he was out of the store, he closed his eyes and sighed slightly.

Well, it looked like job hunting wasn't going to end soon.
