Yuuri followed the instructions that had been left in the pirate-lady's journal and made his way down to the location she'd specified.

It was a little dark inside, and he had to give his eyes a moment to adjust. After that, he called out cautiously, so as not to disturb anything. "Hello? Anyone still here?"

Renya popped out from behind a curtain near one of her windows, where she'd been smoking.

"Oii, kiddo, ye not too late. Got ten coppers?"

The room smelled heavily of smoke, but he could ignore it for now. Yuuri rummaged around in his pockets until he pulled out the correct change. It had been hard to get the hang of how the currency worked, but between him and Wolfram, they'd figured it out.

He deposited the coins on the nearest table and looked up at her expectantly. "So, I've never done this before. What do I do?"

Renya slid by, taking the coins and slipping them into her coinpouch. "Righ then," she said, handing him the cards, "Think o' ye question and shuffle these. When ye done shufflin 'em, spread 'em out on th' table face-down an pick seven, then hand those seven to me. "

Thinking of a question was kind of hard, since he had to narrow down a million different thoughts into one that was most important. He considered for a few seconds, pushing this and that aside to find out what was his number one concern.

Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, he shuffled the cards around the table. 'Can I fix everything that's gone wrong here, even without my friends? Can I succeed on the Council and get everyone home?'

Opening his eyes, he extracted seven cards from the mess on the table and handed them to Renya.

He was a little startled. Perhaps he had just been too easy to read, but it seemed like all of the cards connected with one another. "So," he said softly, "I'm just supposed to have patience? I'll fail once at something, but succeed the next?"

Yuuri tried to brush it off with a smile. "Thank you. I guess I knew that all along, but I just needed to hear it from someone else to believe it would all work out in the end-"

He paused. "Is that part of the 'too optimistic' thing? Maybe I shouldn't expect everything to be perfect..." The rambling was definitely a bad habit of his.

She shrugged. "I only say wha' th' spirits tell me through th' cards. But yeh, ye cannae expect everything to be perfect. But ye can hope."
