Re: AFTERNOON DELIGHT :: EARLY EVENING ennegrecida May 28 2008, 16:12:13 UTC
Maya had never attended a masquerade ball. There were always parties in her town, but never anything overly formal unless weddings counted. The last wedding she attended...she still felt sick to her stomach at the thought. Alejandro, his bride, their friends, and family on the ground not knowing who did this to them. This curse, but no - this new ball, she was going with Gabriel, she was going to be beautiful, she was going to control herself, yet have fun all at once.

And, of course, it would require a dress.

She arrived early in the evening, shyly opening the door, the little bell signalling her arrival. Fingers danced over the displays, marveling at the embroidery, how classic these dresses were, but where would she start? Maya waited, hoping someone would come to her assistance.

"I'm so sorry to have kept you waiting!" Kaoru insisted as he approached the woman. "Hello, I'm Hitachiin Kaoru and welcome to Eagle's Splendour! Are you looking for a dress for the event?"

He tried not to overwhelm her too much with information until he knew what her intentions were for coming to the store.

Maya smiled, twirling a lock of hair around one finger, and surveying the room again. Where was she supposed to begin? Thankfully she was approached by a young, redhead asking her if she needed any assistance. A hero coming just in time before she drowned in piles of beautiful fabric, pearls, and lace.

"Si!" She piped up, smiling sweetly. "I don't - have these dresses home."

Kaoru smiled and led her towards the racks of dresses. "Do you have a favorite style? Short or long? A favorite color me?"

It suddenly occurred to Kaoru that she, like Kaoru, didn't speak English as her native language. "Excusez moi, tu parle francais?" It was worth a shot, anyway.

"Hmmm, long. Dark colors," Maya answered the kind man, following him towards more dresses fit for princesses.

Then he started speaking something else - something she did not understand. Only 'tu' and 'francais'.

"I - oh. No? I don't speak french."

Larxene and Zexion entered the shop together - not precisely arm in arm, but at least in step.

He'd told her, essentially, to not scare the young men of the shop too much - what they wanted would be more easily obtained with honeyed words than force. It was just clothes shopping, after all.

Under one arm, he carried an ordinary notebook - separate from his journal - that currently had a number of papers tucked into it, and a copy of William Shakespeare's The Tempest.

He then stood and waited quietly for someone to come and assist them both, an enigmatic smile on his face.

Even as she walked in beside her date, she grinned. Yes, he had said to use words to coerce the boys, but.... that didn't mean that she wasn't allowed to bring a knife or... you know... seven. All well hidden.

While they waited, Larxene began looking at the dresses and other clothing, touching the fabric and running it through her hands. It was a habit of hers to touch everything while shopping. After all, if the cloth wasn't comfortable, what was the point of wearing it?

It had been quite some time by now, but Kaoru did actually recognize Zexion when he entered the shop. Of course, he wasn't about to show that save for a half-beat of a shock before his smile was firmly back in place. After all... it had been well over a month since they'd last seen each other - no wait, there was the other meeting too, but that was nearly a month ago as well.

"Welcome to Eagle's Splendour!" He greeted. "I'm Hitachiin Kaoru." He glanced between the man he was acquainted with and the woman he wasn't. "How can I help you today?" Decked out in his ballroom attire, he certainly looked right at home among the mannequins.

[[OOC: I have no idea if they're wearing their standard black or not... 'cuz if they are this could get pretty déjà vu very quick. o_o;; ]]

Larxene never missed a beat. She caught the boy's expression and deduced that Zexion and this boy, Kaoru, were acquainted.

But of course, nothing showed on her face. Not a twitch, not a blink, just her sappy and simpering smile.

"Helloooo, dear. I'm Larxene. We have something.... specific in mind. I do so hope you can assist us~" With that, she glanced at Zexion, who had the notes on the costumes tucked away in his book. "Zexion has the sketches and so forth."

"We shall be going as Prospero and Ariel, from William Shakespeare's The Tempest," said Zexion briskly, handing Kaoru the sketches. They were not by any means perfect, but they got the idea across: Zexion's was meant to evoke a wizard's robes, long and flowing. The colors were dark blues and lavenders, the better to set off his hair, and the mask was deep blue edged with silver. Larxene's, on the other hand, was to be a somewhat Arabian aesthetic, a pair of poofy pants and a revealing top with long flowing scarves and a veil, all done in blues and yellows with a storm motif.

"Is this doable...?" he asked.

[ooc: they're not wearing the black trenchcoats, but they do tend to wear just black shirts and pants. ... usually they end up matching through no fault of their own.
larxene's mask is the Air mask on the upper right
zexion's mask is almost identical to the one in the middle panel here, though obviously he won't be wearing a suit :P]

"Oh my it's been awhile, but I actually remember reading that for class once!" Kaoru remarked as he accepted the sketches, scrutinizing them while he talked. "The outfits are definitely doable, but the masks... I'll have to contact the leather-worker right away and ask the girls to help out..."

It would be a time-crunch, no mistake, but there really were more complex masks and outfits that they could've asked for. So if the girls focus on the outfits and leave the masks to me...

He shook his head and smiled at both of them. "I'll make it work. I promise. You'll be able to pick them up only a few hours before the event, but we'll be able to help you get dressed in no time and make the event, no problem!"

After all, the least I can do for you, right?

Larxene clasped her hands together girlishly, "Oh, SPLENDID! How wonderful. I hope it's not too much of a stress on you dears."

Of course, her voice was completely laced with sugar, and maybe just a little venom. But she smiled sweetly.

"I know it will be no problem for you talented young men."

Zexion smiled. "That sounds acceptable," he said. "I look forward to seeing what you can do."

AFTERNOON DELIGHT :: EARLY EVENING - She swears it's for a friend! kabukichoqueen May 29 2008, 09:18:53 UTC
It wasn't for her. She wasn't going to buy a dress for herself. That would be ridiculous! Kagura... Kagura didn't know how to buy any clothes. Sukonbu she could buy, and groceries, but she has never tried shopping for clothes before. Shopping, as in not picking up the nearest china-themed dress she could find on the rack and buying it.

But this was different. It was going to be for a friend. At least, she hoped that Haru-anego was a friend. Kagura has never been so close to a normal girl before, usually because such people tend to stay away from her, call her an overpowered freak and comment about how dirty she looked. Haru-anego was... well, she was kind and she ate cake really fast and she...

Kagura shook her head. If she was going to buy some clothes for Haru, in exchange for the comfortable sundress she was wearing, she had to do it now. Any later and Sacchan might notice that she just sneaked out of the house. She opened the door slightly and peered in.

"Ah good afternoon!" Kaoru noticed the girl enter and headed over to greet her. "Welcome to Eagle's Splendour! My name is Ka- OH MY!" Kaoru had to clap his hands over his mouth, then continued speaking, "Is it... Kagura? Oh my gosh it's been so long! How are you?"

It had been over a month and a half, easily, since the last time he'd seen her. He was certainly more upbeat than then, too. After all, he had his brother back now, and certainly didn't hold it against Kagura that she hadn't been involved in his rescue. It was probably strange enough to see the twins in the same room again, which she hadn't seen since that day they'd been reunited in her presence.

It really had been so very long...
