WHO: Penelo, waiting for Basch or one of the Ivalice members to come get her, and whoever passes her along the way!
WHAT: Penelo is friendly and chatty with newcomers- as long as she doesn't go anywhere, right?
WHERE: The Docks
WHEN: Early evening on the first day of Penelo's arrival.
(
The setting sun flung bits of mandarin orange across the inky sea... )
Basch had a feeling he'd be sleeping on the couch soon enough, not that he'd mind. Anything was better than how he'd slept in Nalbina. It was why he didn't complain. Everything and anything was better than that hell. Coming to the docks, he stopped, glancing around for the young blonde girl. Blue eyes spotted her a bit away and he made his way over. Penelo didn't look any worse for wear, and seemed as perky as ever. Basch was glad to see her in good spirits considering the situation.
"Apologies on taking so long to come to you." Basch said, in his way of greeting. Not that him apologizing was out of sorts.

For a moment she was so relieved she could tackled him and clung to him, but that wouldn't really be proper. It was just that the face of Captain Basch fon Ronsenberg appearing across Dalmascan newspapers always reminded her of childhood security. "He's a good one," her father would tell her, "He'll take care of us." Even after the mess that happened with Nalbina and King Raminas... She refused to believe the man who fought so hard for Dalmasca could do such a thing.
"Please, Basch. I'm sorry for troubling you."
She dug her toe into the sand. "It seems I have come at a very bad time, judging from the writings appearing in my book."

The bright smile coming his way was lovely. The young girl was always cheerful, it was always nice having her around. Along with Vaan, the duo was good at keeping the moral of the group up. Though he always worried that Penelo would get hurt or not be able to keep up with them. She proved her worth time and time again though. Her magic abilities were very helpful during battle.
"Tis no trouble at all." Basch said, and smiled just a little at her, the toe digging quite cute, "Penelo, the time at which you have come is not of your choosing, but I am glad to see you well." he could only hope Vaan and Vossler were as well off. Or that Vossler was not yet sick of the boy. Not that he feared he would abandon Vaan, but Vossler had never been very patient with children.

Penelo observed the edges of Basch's lips turning up into a smile, or the ghost of a smile. Either way, it was nice to see the Captain's face without the pain that so haunted it, if even for a moment. She smiled sympathetically, turning her face up to look up at him the way a very trusting puppy would.
"I'm glad everyone here is well, too," She played with the twine on her journal.
Her mind buzzed about Vaan. He'd be alright, she told herself. As long as he didn't get distracted for too long, he'll be just fine. And as long as he doesn't eat a restaurant's wax display... again.
Penelo shook her head to clear her scattered thoughts, and offered her hand childishly at first, then flushed with embarrassment and hugged her journal to her chest with both hands.
"Lead the way, Captain."

Nodding, he turned away from her, giving her a moment to compose herself. Ah, to be young, he thought. It was only a shame the young people of Dalmasca has seen and been through so much heartache and loss. Penelo was a testament to keeping strong even through hard times. Along with Vaan. As he started walking, Basch did glance back to make sure she was following. After walking a little way he wondered something. Ashelia said she was from their future, as the Queen of Dalmasca. Then...
"Penelo, might I ask what you remember last before coming here?" Basch was curious. If Ashelia had really come from the future, then she would actually still be with Vaan and Vossler in his time... and Penelo, if she had been taken from a different moment as well. It was quite odd to think about, and a little confusing.

Penelo trotted behind him, her footsteps bounding on the cobblestones behind him, almost making a game with herself as she bounded from rock to rock.
"I was in an airship, I don't know where I was." She ducked her head, unraveled hair dangling in her face, "There were so many men in armor. I couldn't tell if they were soldiers, Judges, Judge Magisters- I can't keep any of them straight."
She stumbled a little and righted herself.
"I just remember Larsa, and thinking that we were going to end up in the Empire's capitol, and in the room, I thought aloud that..."
Her walk slowed to a stop and she stood in the middle of the street, brow creased and looking upset.
"-I wish I could be anywhere but here."
She wriggled her toes in her decimated boots, little pink toes peeking through the torn leather.
"I should have been careful for what I wished for."

Basch stopped when her foot falls quieted behind him. Looking back, he then turned to watch her. Now that he was getting a better look at the young girl, he noticed she seemed a little roughed up. Hair messy, clothes torn and worn out... was this from the ship here? She had not seemed as in shambles when they'd met up around that time before. Though that was something else Basch was pondering. Should he tell her he was from her future? Another thing that he realized then... she'd never met him, previous to this point in time. Yet she would trust him so blindly? Why?
"... life is... unsuspecting." Basch said, softly, knowing just how much life could come and bite one in the backside. Looking at her another moment, blue eyes calm as he did, he then glanced up at her face.
"We shall have to get you something new to wear." is sure it's uncomfortable to wear her clothes like that, not that anything is too revealing, but with it falling apart as it is, it may end up doing such in short time. Wonders if perhaps Balthier might have something for her to wear at the house. Maybe from Bela. As much as he'd dislike to bring the woman up, as he knew it bothered Balthier to think of her, he was sure Balthier had done nothing with her things.

Soon another smile came to her lips. "I suppose I'll have to, won't I? Oh, I don't have any of my sewing supplies... I don't want to steal someone else's clothes."
Determined to not let her heart sink, she resumed hopping along the stones. One of Basch's strides roughly equaled three of her own. She inwardly voiced her distaste for her small stature. She thought of Fran's pretty, tall and shapely figure, and mentally compared it to her own.
"Besides," She reasoned, "Anything of Fran's would just hang on me. I can make something..."

"If that is what you wish to do, I am sure we can find supplies for you." Basch assured her, "I am not positive, but there maybe some clothing at the house you could wear. I will have to speak with Balthier about it." As they had been Bela's clothes. He did not wish to just offer them without Balthier's consent, as he seemed to have been close to her.

"I just don't want to impose," She smiled, "But... If there is something I can wear until I make something, I'd be very grateful."
A good chunk of the fabric on her shoulder tore away, revealing her bare shoulder. Her cheeks burned crimson, and she covered her shoulder with her hand.

Patting her shoulder gently, he then kept walking, looking back only to make sure she was following. They were almost there now. It would not take much longer.

"Thank you, Captain." She murmured.
She was silent the rest of the way home, save her little footsteps tagging behind his.
((OOC: We can just say they're there now, though like, all of House Bunansa is MIA right now. XD ))

"There is no need to call me Captain. Please, call me Basch." he says, not thinking himself worthy of the title anymore. Walks in silence with Penelo, and they finally make their way to the Bunansa House. Opens the door for her, meaning for her to go in first.
"I am not sure who will be home, but please, make yourself comfortable."

Penelo lingered a bit outside the door, hesitant to go inside, and a bit startled that the door was opened for her- something that was rarely done for her. She ducked her head and slipped inside the warm house, visibly relaxing as the hearth warmed her limbs.
