The Temple did, at one point, belong to Zikhadhara, who you appear to be somewhat familiar with. Some time ago, Zikhadhara appeared, staining the pages of the journals with blood. Several people fell under a curse that caused them to become catlike in appearance and actions. Many of them ran to join forces with Zikhadhara.

People formed groups to put an end to the mayhem he caused, but Zikhadhara was incredibly powerful and had several deadly underlings at his disposal, as well as shape-shifting and regenerative abilities.

...He was eventually defeated, I believe by a woman named Selene, but I have no doubt traces of his power, and those loyal to him, still remain in his temple.

His history lies with Rivelata, undoubtedly. According to Immaculada, Zikhadhara was the one who began populating the island.
