Summary, Notes: Despite having 97% of my fanfictions listed as incomplete, I wrote another ficlet to add onto it. But it's Jinda, and I've been missing it. Drabble, wrote it today on a whim. Part of my LINGUA DEI FIORI one-shot series. Please tell me if that's even italian; I used an online translator.
He was sentimental towards flowers, but roses especially. He disliked giving them away, only to see them being thrown away after their death. He loved the romantic confessions behind them, but he would never use them to express his own. And although Ueda loved roses, he would never accept them.
But Jin was always an exception, he knew, because Jin was always his first. And so when he receives a dead rose on their one-year anniversary, he’s puzzled, because he’s never seen such an unromantic acknowledgement of an anniversary before, and so asks about it, only to have a sheepish smile in return. “It’s because you wouldn’t accept it, you know, when I gave it to you last year.”
And Ueda is stunned, because he honestly doesn’t know how to respond to that. “So… you’re giving me back the rose… that I rejected?”
Jin cocks his head, an uneasy smile settling on his face. “I’m hoping you’ll reject it again, actually.” He pauses, taking a brief glance to the side. “Because you said you’d accept my affections, but not the rose. If you accept the rose now, what will happen to my affections..?”
And Ueda blinks, startled, before a gentleness smooths out his features and an amused smile adorns his face blissfully. “Then I guess you’ll be taking care of that rose for a very, very long time.”
