paris!

Aug 11, 2005 10:34

i think i'm allergic to paris
since we got in yesterday afternoon, i've been terribly sneezy and after sleeping last night, my throat is extremely uncomfortable, thank goodness for the cough drops my mom gave me right before i left, i don't know what't bothering me, it's just something in the air that irritates my senses:::

day 2 in paris, its 10:27 in the morning on friday, relaxing in the morning after breakfast at our hotel (it's included!) and here while doing laundry, other people are out going to museums and such, but our small group will be going to five different churches in the heart of paris later

last night, we went to le basilique du sacre coeur (sacred heart) for mass, there's an incredible view of the city of paris from the gates since it lies on the top of a mountain (oh, and we live 20 minute walk from there) the style of the art is much different from what we have seen so far, specifically, romano-byzantine style, most stunning is the very very large mozaic arching high above the alter depicting Christ with outstretched arms... following mass, had a very exquisite dinner at the nearby le maison rose... so gonna be poor after paris! just because food here is much more expensive than the places we've previously stayed at and we're here for 3 more days...

found inscribed inside sacre coeur
i like this alot, want to share with you all

Lord, may the candel which I
burn be a light, so that you
may enlighten me in my
difficulties and in my
decisions.

May it be a fire so that you
can burn in me all
selfishness, pride and
impurity.

May it be a fla,e, so that
you may warm up my heart.

I can not stay for long
in your church

By lighting this candle, it is
a part of myself which I wish
to give to You.

Help me to continue
prayer throughout all of my
daily activities.

Amen

and with that I lit a candle with a prayer

pray that i have the energies to continue on this journey, so much we have been through and seen already, and with the burden of a 14 person group, i'm exhausted still every day because of little sleep and hearing all the arguing between individuals and groups, help me to breath, help me to see beyond material needs, let me see the good in everything as this journey continues, to strengthen my faith and my love...

in paris until monday, when we'll *finally* leave for cologne!!!!!!!!

been terribly homesick all in lourdes (which was also an awesome experience that i will need to tell later, and also the one place without internet!) and i miss you all soo very very much!!

love,

rita
