Things I like in a story:
Modern-day settings where fantastical/supernatural things sort of...co-exist with normalcy, or are just there. Whether or not they're acknowledged by normal people.
Non-romantic/platonic love
Characters with messed up ideas/views on love (not necessarily in a romantic sense)
Characters with v.special logic or world views
Steampunk
Knights in Sour Armour
Characters with powers they don't want, but they deal with it
Zombies with personality
Gods/deities that are both human and non-human
Jerkass gods
Characters that do terrible things for the lulz, or just because they can
Characters so crazy they end up being awesome
Funny things that actually aren't funny/pretty serious when you think about it
Giant trees/"world trees"
Nakama
Unlikely nakama
Crazy families (VELVET PEEPS YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN)
Beware the Nice Ones, especially if combined with Tranquil Fury
Quirky characters that are also actually badass
Mindscrewy environments
Personality-based powers
Childlike psychopaths/sociopaths
Simple-minded/childlike characters
Creative takes on the afterlife
Non-humans becoming more human-like, and how they deal with that realization
Nice Job Breaking It Hero
Grey morality
World-building, particularly culture-building
Characters who just roll with it
Conflict between duty and personal feelings
Iron Woobies
...Might add more if I forgot anything.
