OK, there are a few things I can do here at work right now, but not much. All boring maintinence/ organizational shop-manager stuff. I'm caught in that oh-so-fun state of not wanting to get too much done today because then there won't be anything for my minions to do tomorrow. Rar. Thus, I am bored. I would have liked to have gotten started on designing the next show last week, but auditions were last week and I can't be too unhappy about not having a cast immediately. I can, however, be pissy about not being given a script last week. I have one now. However, what I still do not have is a cast for the show. This particular director has a bit of a tendency to procrastinate (gross understatement), and to pad his casts with unnecessary ensemble characters. He has already told me he won't have time to have a design meeting until next week. That means I can't really even get started on anything for this minimum-of-fifteen-character period piece until less than four weeks before tech. Rar indeed.
If I don't have a cast by tomorrow, I think I may have to take up golf or something and go run off with our technical theatre guy. I'm already planning to leave early next Monday and Tuesday. Of course, by then I might have actual costume design work to do. Too bad. Still leaving early. (Woo-hoo,
The Pogues on Monday,
Roger Waters on Tuesday!)
In other news-- I love fall! Cooler weather, overcast skies with occasional raindrops, the yummy smell of woodsmoke in the air... Squee! It started to rain during one of
Siamsa's shows at
faire yesterday, but not to the point of the stage being too slippery to dance on, just enough for it to be awesome. Then it stopped so our last show was mostly dry and also not too slippery for dancing. Yay!
I want to bake things.
