So this weekend has been all about games. I had a physics test friday, so I didn't have much to do over the weekend (since it usually is a physics problem set) except some reading (not like I did any). So instead, I spent my weekend playing Go online almost constantly. However, after deciding to take a short break (since I clearly have a problem), I was looking for other games to play inbetween my Go breaks. I stumbled across AIM games, expecting to find some fun games I used to play with Sarah and Krista.
Now, I don't know if any of you have seen Cry Wolf, but it's a seemingly low budget teenage slasher flick with a bunch of no name young actors put into a dumb situation of their own free will. Surprisingly enough, it has one of the best endings I've seen in slasher flicks - its worth watching. Anyways, one part of the movie depicts a game the kids play, where one person is the wolf and the rest are the sheep. The sheep need to figure out who the wolf is by making accusations and looking for the liar. Each round results in a vote of the group between two people who are suspected of being the wolf. If the wolf is voted out, then the sheep win. If not, then they are still at risk and the game continues. Sounds kinda dumb right?
Back to my story, I find in the AIM games, their own Cry Wolf game, based on the one in the movie. People log in under thei AIM name and enter a room with a bunch of random people and do basically the same thing. Sound stupid? Yeah, it kinda is. But I found it surprisingly refreshing. A game that requires no blatant skill - you just have to convince the people that you are not the wolf (regardless of whether you are or not) and see if you can figure it out on your own (or have fun killing people if you are the wolf). Am I big loser for enjoying such a dumb game? You bet your ass I am, which is why I chose such a fitting title line.
So yeah, I just thought that I'd let you all know I got no work done this weekend since I played games every moment I was awake, and I'm sure I'm going to pay for it soon. In the meantime, check out that cry wolf game is u have 20 minutes to spare. I doubt anyone will like it since it's not a very deep game (and most of the other players are teenagers and we all know how much I hate them). In fact, if you want to learn a new game, try some Go games - it gets a lot more intense once you get down the basic knowledge and gain some advanced plays. But yeah. I am pathetic.
