Some kind of desultory remark

I'm having technical difficulties with The Donor -- I misplaced Chapter 20 at my father's house and until I find it or decide I have to reconstruct it, which I do not want to do, I'm not updating there.

On the other hand, though nothing has been posted in three weeks, I have a bunch of fun stuff written for Bella and Chain which I will post properly in the morning because I'm sort of out of it now.

I spent the weekend in the City. Moher(my stepmother) was repatriated from Kenya where she was being treated for a severe stroke she had in a tiny town in Tanzania. She was in the air forever and forever. She is esconced at Kaiser where they have done many more tests. I've talked to her on the phone. She can't move her right hand or right leg but she has some sensation there. She's having trouble saying words but she sounds normal, really. I teased her -- said I had missed all the speech therapy fun, but she said nope, there's a lot more to be done. Everybody who knows her is supposed to talk to her, which is speech therapy.

I left my dad a kugel and put his dishes in the dishwasher before I left the City. Then I came home and made root vegetable oven thing by yet a new method that I think works pretty well and takes about 45 minutes start to finish (its cheating, uses the microwave) so Emma would have something to take to a potluck and then I fixed Ted dinner (which is cheating because I threw together some leftovers and a focaccia from the bakery where Glosia's son works with tomatoes chopped up on top of it). That is to say, I cooked three different dinners for three different sets of people.

I'll be good in the morning, I swear it.
