I started work on Saturday. So far there has been lots of time to knit while listening to directions and waiting for people to figure out how to log on to various systems. I have a list of 15 username/password combinations to log into said systems. I am able to follow directions and all my log-ins worked the first time, thus giving me maximum possible knitting time. Today was a different story with lots to read and digest. I took 4 module tests and passed them all. I am really glad I upgraded the 'puter cuz my old one would have bogged down already. My new monitor is also clearer for reading text so that is helping my eye strain a great deal. Tomorrow will be more of the same. Next week is supposed to be the fun stuff including role playing taking customer calls. Should be a blast.
The insurance check came Friday for the broken garage door, so I made the appointment that afternoon. The new garage door was installed yesterday morning. It looks fabulous and I am just tickled. I like the fact that my garage has fewer bugs and is cool enough to work in now. Not to mention that I can park my car in there.
I recieved mail from my Clan Society with the brief history of the clan and some of the usual begging for money. Sorry, I'd love to donate but I think eating is more important right now. I will keep y'all in mind. Anyway I also got an e-mail from the organizer for the USA branch and have begun working out preliminary ideas for next year's events.
fiberaddict, I would love to talk to you and your bunch about setting up a tent. I know some obvious things like tent, table, chairs, clan literature. Is there anything else I might want to know in advance? He says he knows of a few people who might be willing to stop by and give me a break if I am willing to organize and set up the tent. It seems that a few people would like there to be a tent, would like to help, but no one wants to be in charge. Lucky I cam along, huh?
I may start a Yahoo! group for the clan society to make it easier to keep in touch. I will only do it with his okay. He is in the planning stages with someone building a new website for clan info that may include a forum which would make a yahoo! group redundant. Anyway, plans are rolling along and there should be another clan represented at the next Highland Games.
Knitting: I knitted 3 hats last week with the intention of selling them at the team member art sale. I didn't contact them on time, though. I failed to notice a deadline for submissions on the flyer of June 19th, 2 days ago. I only had 3 hats ready to go so they will likely end up on
http://ritaspins37.etsy.com as soon as I can get them up there. Monday I just didn't have time to go by there to talk to someone and drop them off. I will call tomorrow and see if there is still a chance, but I am doubting it. I also finished the lemon curd socks for the boyfriend. To say he liked them is an understatement. I have never gotten such a strong reaction from a pair of socks. Today during training I worked briefly on clapotis which has been on hiatus for some time due to seemingly urgent hat knitting. I recieved the yarn today for two more hats that were commissioned, after that I will just make them at my leisure for etsy. I have pattern dancing in my head to enter in the state fair as an original work. That will be the next thing on my agenda as soon as the commissioned hats are done. I have it in my head that I want to make a knitted shawl patterned after my family's tartan. We'll see if I ever get that done.
Spinning: I have not been spinning much. I spun up most of the random roving today at guild and will likely have that finished by the middle of next week. It will be a candidate for the state fair project. I am going to make a two ply by doing my new trick of using my norwegian as a lazy kate. The singles were spun on the norwegian, but the Kromski has bigger bobbins. The new wheel from ebay could be here any day now. Whee!
