and I can't believe I am this tired. L had 3 wisdom teeth pulled yesterday under general anesthesia and I took care of him all day. I have never had to go through the recovery room scenario with anyone before, at least quite as up close and personal as this one. It was a little scary, but we both lived. He had a rough surgery, didn't want to wake up, he is kinda like that. He (thankfully) slept most of the day yesterday and remembers very little. He finally made me take him home at 10:30pm last night for reasons that don't entirely make sense, so we will just leave it at that. I didn't do a whole lot but it was still exhausing in a way. Today he is fine, though with a sore jaw, but generally in good spirits. He just drove himself home.
In between gauze changes and snoring I managed to knit a hat and write a pattern that is destined to go up on etsy. I hope it will be for sale by Wednesday. I still need to take pictures, throw it in the washer and take more pictures of during and after blocking. I may decide to make a second brimless version of it so I may wait longer to put it up for sale. I also started on
dolphin94's cell phone cozy in my "blue nebula" yarn. I am not sure if I got the dimensions right on her phone so I won't finish it until I see her next week. Part of today's plan was to cruise the mall and see if I could find a model of her phone that I could slip in there for a final fitting, but L wore himself out too fast.
Today I went to the first annual DFW Fiber Fest. I wanted to go support the first ever (that I know of)local fiber fair. It was sparsely attended, about 60 people total registered. I was registered to go to the fashion show on Fri eve, but couldn't make it because I didn't feel comfortable leaving L. Today there were a handful of vendors who sold everything from cheap nick-nacks and acrylic yarn to wonderful commercial cashmere yarn and hand made glass knitting needles. The needles were beautiful but cost more than I could spend today so the info got forwarded to the boyfriend for his gift giving pleasure. The needles are sold at my favorite local yarn store so I can get a set, even special order them when I decide I can afford them. I did get some dyed mohair locks in red, purple and green; a shetland/mohair batt that is white with a little yellow and blue and a batt that is shetland and GCN (?) natural grey with bits of purple and pink. They should all spin up into interesting yarns eventually.
I have added significantly to my stash in the last few weeks. I think I am worried about running out of things to do while I look for work. Yeah, I didn't say it made sense.
Edit: GCN is Gulf Coast Native.
