Well I have done almost 15 rows of aran this weekend. I was supposed to go to work yesterday but stayed home to nurse my sciatica. It was probably the worst episode I have ever experienced. I woke up barely able to walk and spent the day moving from couch to bed to pacing the house briefly, then starting over again. Ice helps a lot, but not for more than an hour or so. So... I knitted alot yesterday and watched TV. This morning it was much better but I still have some tingling in my toes. It just isn't interfering with any activities. Of course yesterday would have been a great day to play hooky from work and chase kilts, but it was not in the cards.

I should have gone to the highland games today, but alas, I chose unwisely. I went to Ikea today. Never, never again. It may have been better to go during the week when there aren't so many people there, but it would still not be pleasant making my way through the maze. Tons of people, tons of low grade, low price furniture. Forced flow. Not my scene at all. After about 30 min I found the shelves that I came to see, having shopped on-line first, and decided they were not what I wanted after all. I finally found downstairs, went down and made my way thru another maze. At least one redeeming thing happened. I found a birthday prezzie for my best friend. She will love it. Unfortunately I cannot post it because she reads here.

I went to Lowe's at long last and got two sets of shelves in an oak finish. They will sit in the arches in my living room, I just have to put them together first. Then I can take the next step towards being able to walk around my living room.

Eventually I will install built-in shelves for that space and put those shelves elsewhere, but for now they will fill a need.

Back to knitting.

house, aran
