Hurricaine Ike

is gone. All we got here was rain and rain and rain. He was shunted off by a cold front coming from the north west so never came full on my area like predicted. Today I woke up to sunny skies and considerably cooler air than I've been used to. It is a beautiful morning. In a minute I am going to take my wheel out on the back patio and spin until it gets too hot, or until its time to go work out, whichever comes first.

The only mar to the day so far is the fact that I am concerned about my friend who moved down to the coast. She and her husband bugged out Thursday and are in Mobile, AL so I know they are safe. She is waiting for the all clear to come home and start cleaning. Certainly there will be some flooding and we'll have to see how bad it is when she is allowed to come home. There has been little in the news about the little community that she lives in, but from what I hear, the damage is substantial, but no homes have been wiped into the bayou. She should have a home to return to in other words. She goes to school on Galveston Island where the damage is much worse and they are talking about several days to several weeks before the island and therefore the school can be re-opened.
