Labor day weekend L and I went to Oklahoma in the Borken Bow area. We rented a cabin for the weekend and took Athena with us. The cabin was much nicer than I had hoped. It was almost as big as my house with a fairly well stocked kitchen, central air, a hot tub, comfortable bed and satellite TV in a wooded setting. We cooked our own meals for the most part, found a local farmer who sold produce and meat his farm, went hiking in Beaver's Bend State Park and relaxed a whole lot. That is one destination I wouldn't mind going back to.
Work all week was very stressful, but I was rewarded with another fine weekend. I got off work on Friday almost in tears from frustration at my job. After chilling out for a while surfing the web and knitting, I called a friend from my guild. I don't get to go to guild anymore so I miss the ladies terribly. We have suggested getting together occasionally in the evenings for "fiber therapy" but nobody ever organizes it so it doesn't happen. I take things into my own hands every once in a while so I can have some fiber friend time, one-on-one or in a group. Cindy needed to have some alpaca fleeces skirted and I needed some fiber therapy so we dragged as many as we could to her place this afternoon to help skirt the fleeces before sending off to processing. It was fun and educational and I got to see my friends. Win, win, win! In addition, I paid for a year membership in my city's recreational facilities. I now have access to all fitness centers and pools operated by the city for a year. I celebrated by working out today. Now between bending over a skirting table and my time on the treadmill, I am hunched over and sore, but it should be worth it (eventually).
Oh, and a friend brought over the entire series "Waiting for God" We watched the first season yesterday. I love that show!
