Yesterday I got up and went to my pottery class. I spent a lot of time learning that the tracing paper I had used (to trace designs for transferring to pottery) was not the right thickness. So I transferred the designs to tissue paper. Then I found out that the tissue paper was too thin. Finally, I used some of Anita's paper.

She showed me how to use the special paint to fill in the design, let the paint dry, and then transfer it to the pottery. Since I had let the pottery dry, it had to be dampened sufficiently so that it would absorb the paint.

The next step was to wet down the other side of the tissue paper to kind of "push" the paint off the paper and encourage the pottery to absorb it. While it's still wet, gently lift the paper. And voila! The image is transferred. To emphasize the design, it's possible to "carve" lines into the paint with the needle-point tool.

Once the paint dries, the pottery is ready to be bisqued. I can't wait to see what happens.

I didn't finish the second attempt until after 1:00, so I was beginning to get hungry and tired. I didn't want to try it again so I just cleaned up all that and went back to my other things. I had four pots to trim and dry, so that's what I did. I feel like I am making real progress this term.

I was too tired to do much of anything in the afternoon. But I did get myself to wash all the fabrics I had purchased the day before. I dried them in the dryer and some of them even came out without wrinkles. But I will iron all of them anyway.

Today will be devoted to getting organized for the Pomegranate Convention. I have received lists of materials from the teachers and I have lots to assemble. I also have to make sure that my sewing machine is running smoothly.

I watched a couple of episodes of TV shows, but nothing memorable. At least I relaxed and began work on a new potholder.

I was up at about 7 this morning and had my breakfast. But I'm only beginning to wake up now. Some mornings, I work on 4 puzzles in the newspaper before I'm fully alert. I can usually do the crossword puzzle in the Register without too much difficulty. I'm getting faster at doing the jumble and I even work on the Scramble. Lately, I've been starting the Soduko. It seems that I usually make some mistake and have no patience to go back and figure out what's wrong. But I'm sure that event attempting to do it is working favorably on my brain.

Okay, enough procrastinating. I've got to get dressed and busy.
