Five months. Others have been here longer. Occasionally, you might be able to talk to the Malnosso through the book, but don't count on it. It'll keep you in contact with the other captives.

Of course not. You can call it pointless, but I'm not going to just sit here and wait to be allowed home. There's information out there, facts and data. If I could just gather it all- No, even some, I might be able to get some answers. It might not get everyone home, but it's a start.

Now then... [She trails off a minute but then bounces back.]

I didn't say it was pointless, and I'm not one of those who will wait complacently. I meant that it won't be as easy as you seem to think.

Oh, I'm well aware it won't be easy. Right now, it'll probably take weeks just to understand the differences in basic principles. This kind of technology isn't anything I've seen before. They're technology and the technology we have on Terca Lumereis seem totally different. So to catch up to something this advance means putting aside all that I know as a scientific researcher and starting off almost from scratch.

So just what have you done these past 5 months then?

Then I'll have to find out who. If there's a way to compile all the data anyone has collected then it might just give me a head start.
