[It's been somewhat quiet recently, so Rita's been spending quite a bit of time in the library, studying all she can about the subjects exclusive to Luceti. If you were to actually see her there, she'd be sitting in a spot next to the window, surrounded by textbooks and scribbling things down in a notebook that looks hand-bound. She's making sure ( Read more... )

I see you have some good advice already, so I'll try not to be redundant. I've learned from a few of the local spirits, though not all of them just yet. If you already seem to have an affinity for a certain element, that does speed the process, both bonding and learning. The lack of affinity only hampers a few, and with those bonding might be impossible.

So far, I haven't found a satisfactory way to combine magics. The magic of my world is static, whereas the magic of the spirits is less powerful (usually), but more flexible. Perhaps there is a better way, but it will take time and more research to uncover.

Which ones have you learned from, if you don't mind me asking? And did you already have an affinity for all of their elements?

I see what you mean... The magic in my world is a lot different than it is here as well, so I don't even know if combining the two would be possible. I'll be able to get a better idea of what I'm working with once I can learn some of the magic here, so I'll be sure to write down everything I find out.

Thanks a lot.

You're welcome! So far, I have learned magic from Nala (healing), Kipinn (wind), Sona (water), Faeren (earth) and Tsinku (lightning). I already knew some spells for most of these elements, so I guess that counted as affinity enough. I used to have healing magic of my own long ago, but became unable to use it over the years. Nala didn't mind teaching me her method, though. However, I doubt I would have gotten Sona's attention if I hadn't learned some water-based spells already.

Oh, good, that's one of the things I was most concerned about. I'd heard that Sona is reluctant to teach people without an affinity to water, and the closest thing I have is the same as you- the ability to use water-based magic.

Then I think you should be fine. As long as you remain respectful, she ought to at least hear you out.
