[It's been somewhat quiet recently, so Rita's been spending quite a bit of time in the library, studying all she can about the subjects exclusive to Luceti. If you were to actually see her there, she'd be sitting in a spot next to the window, surrounded by textbooks and scribbling things down in a notebook that looks hand-bound. She's making sure ( Read more... )

On your first point, there doesn't seem to be anything of that sort. They keep to themselves, mostly.

Some are shyer about approaching humans, and some refuse to approach unless there is a chance of there being an affinity -- such as the water and fire spirits, specifically.

There are those who are quicker to reach out than others. It's all a matter of listening properly, or going out of your way to immerse yourself in their territories. It still takes a lot of time to earn their trust, regardless, and they may not wish to bond with you.

Nala is by far the friendliest, and very open with her gifts of healing, and doesn't really have a specific area. The earth spirit, Faeren, is likely the easiest to contact first, though she is also the quietest. Those who garden, or are outdoors a lot, or seem to have a liking for the earth are sooner to hear her voice. Sona, the spirit of water, again, regardless of whether or not she finds you worthy, often calls to those who have a lot of dealing with ... water.

Eferin, the fire spirit, can be heard in the forest, though he takes a lot of time, and can be rather difficult for people. Kipinn, the wind spirit, can be heard nearest to the mountain area; he's a friendlier one. Tsinku, the electric spirit, can be heard -- eventually -- in wide open spaces. Hyt, the light spirit, is likely the most difficult of all, and gaining any sort of contact with him takes a lot of time. He doesn't seem to have any specific area.

... As for your other questions, I suppose depending on the magic you have, it can be used in some ways to give it a boost. However, this can't always be done effectively, and can have dangerous side effects if you aren't too careful.

Hmm... Okay. So, if you've already got some kind of previous knowledge about water or fire magic, you'd probably have a better chance?

Also, listening properly? Is there a specific way to do that, like meditation or something? I'm afraid magic works quite a bit differently where I come from, so I've never really had to communicate like this before.

...Sorry if it seems like I'm asking a lot. Your response was already extremely helpful, so... um, thank you.

Oh, and no worries- I'll be careful. I'm not going to try anything outrageous right away; I'd like to learn what I can first, and then study the formulas I already have to see if I can modify them in any way.

Yes, though doubtless there have been exceptions, depending on the pact-seekers determination. Although there are many spirits in conjunction with a particular element; whether or not you are able to get to the main one depends on if they decide they trust you.

Meditation is one way, yes, though sometimes they'll call out to you. Usually to one person at a time; they either communicate telepathically or verbally. It is very different from ordinary magic; it's like summoning, save you are able to control the magic itself once it is granted to you.

Due to the recent situation in which people were possessed by these spirits, albeit it not being an ordinary occurrence, I would be a bit wary of trying too much out. We do have classes at the school to aid with learning magical control, though we are taking a small break from classes for the summer months.

I see. Good.

I see. I guess the most effective way to learn would be by experience, then.

We'll try to take it easy, then- it seems like contacting all of them is going to take some time anyway, so there's no reason to do anything too quickly.

...I've never actually attended school before. I wonder if it would be beneficial to check it out after the summer is over...

Indeed. The more you try, the better your chances. It'll come with time; and some pacts are easier to make than others.

You're certainly welcome to attend.

Thanks a lot for all your help. I'll think about it.

You wouldn't happen to be Raine Sage, would you? I'd been told that she was well-informed about this subject.

Very well then.

Is that so? Yes, my name is Raine Sage. And... you're a housemate of Yuri's, aren't you?
