so, this morning I got up early, and was the second person to arrive at my polling place. and at 7:03 or 4 or 5 I was the first to cast my ballot in our polling place! HURRAY!
it was exciting. I still have choir tonight, but I think I am going to go out and party with Scott and Eric afterwards - I was planning on NOT doing that b/c I'm sure I'll be pooped AND I have a couple late nights at the end of the week (OMG!! STEPHEN KELLOGG THURSDAY *AND* FRIDAY! HURRAY! FINALLY! I've been so excited and figured depending on how today went/goes I'll be celebrating or commiserating) - but then I figured, what the hell. work isn't too crazy right now and this only happens once every four years!
not as exciting is the fight that abby (my roommate) and I are working on resolving. we've been warring via email (always terrible b/c you would NEVER say the things you can say in an email in person!) for about a week and half. and last thursday after a tearful conversation with her mother I was SURE we'd set the path straight for reconciliation only to find out she hadn't received the last (and very long, rather awful) installment of the email war from me...and so we were starting over. last night we managed to talk rather civilly and agree that at this point there is too much to try and keep talking and pointing fingers about - we're just going to have to apologize, and move forward. wednesday we're going to make dinner and clean up together and while we do that we are going to try and establish a plan for chores and for expressing expectations and discontent w/o waiting for it to turn into a total nightmare as has happened now several times. I feel much more relaxed knowing that we're at least headed towards resolution.
also not so exciting is some sad news from a friend, nothing I should share, but the type of news that smacks you in the face, and leaves you feeling it for some time.
so, I am incredibly nervous about the election, b/c I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch no matter the margins and what the polls say so, lets go OBAMA! everyone get out there and "BARACK-The-VOTE!"
oh, and lets talk about the questions - if you're MA I'm thinking you should vote NO on 1, YES (HELL YES!) on 2 and a tricky YES on 3. 3 has really caused me some grief, b/c I can't fathom throwing several thousand people into unemployment in this economy, but I decided to vote for my feelings on the issue...
(for our friends NOT in MA - question 1 was asking to get rid of the personal income tax, 2 is to decriminalize and make a civil offense possesion of 1ounce or less of marijuana, 3 is to phase out and eventually ban greyhound racing in the state)
