Taiwan, part one

May 06, 2011 22:19

We left Naruto early on Saturday morning, and landed in Taiwan in the early afternoon.  We made our way through Customs, and immediately hopped a bus to the High Speed Railway station, where we took a train to tropical southern Taiwan and the city of Kaohsiung.

Kaohsiung has some lovely beaches.  Unfortunately, the weather reports said that there was supposed to be a lot of rain in Taiwan, so we planned other things our day and a half there.  Of course, it ended up NOT raining, but we didn't realize it wasn't going to until it was too late to head to the beach.

Instead, EAST ASIA'S LARGEST MALL.

The amusement park on top of the mall (floor 10? 11? 12? There were so many floors (plus at least two basement levels!) that I lost count)

The Sanrio (Hello Kitty) Ferris wheel:

Outdoor plaza:

Little angry dude at the outdoor fountain area:

A rare sighting of a Lissa in front of the camera:

Taiwanese money, 1,110 dollars worth. (about 38.71 USD, 48.84 NZD, 3,121 yen, 37.15 CAD, 26.69 Euros)

I promise the pictures from the rest of the trip are more interesting. No matter how neat or enormous a mall is, it's still a mall and doesn't make for the best of photos. :D
