For all you dorky-dorks out there (like Me!), the annual Perseid meteor showers are on tonight (and last night too).
From my 365 day calendar (and the H.R. Macmillan Space Centre), "the Perseids are a product of the comet Swift-Tuttle, which orbits the sun once every 130 years. The comet leaves a trail of debris in its path; tiny particles, most no larger than a grain of sand, moving 132,000 mph. Every year in July and August, Earth's orbit takes it through this debris. Result: The particles burn up as they enter our atmosphere, giving us our regular light show."
Supposedly, the best night was last night, but they are still going on tonight. So, just to let you all know. I'm totally coming home from work and lying in my backyard.
Happy Stargazing, people!
