it's been gorgeous the past few days. i should have gone to the beach, but instead i've gone to see two movies, and done quite a bit of reading. friday i saw war of the worlds, which was actually pretty entertaining for what it was. and today i saw crash, which if you haven't heard, is about racial issues in LA. it was really engrossing and kept my thoughts drifting back to it throughout the day. and movies don't really get to me that often. i'm about half way through steinbeck's of mice and men, and i have a couple more steinbeck novels lined up. i don't know what i'm doing for the fourth yet. i'm being torn between the elfin forrest and pismo... but i've never really liked the concept of fourth of july... we celebrate our bloody independence by exploding shit into the environment over our nations most precious assets (our beaches and wetlands). and it's hilarious how slo decided it was a good idea to sell fireworks as a fundraiser for the public schools. it seems like some sort of sick survival of the fittest game. i can just imagine..."well, those who can survive the plethora of shooting darts of fire in this dry terrain certainly deserve a better education." hmm...
alright, well, i'm done with my share of negativity for the night. truth is, i'm doing well. summer is fun.
