I finally managed to see it and I've bawled my eyes out. I am wondering: is it possible to be in mourning of the passing of a tv show? Not just a character - but a whole tv show? How sad can I possibly be? I know this show has jumped the shark in about a million ways and it was time for it to go - but I only just found it. I kind of marathoned through all four seasons in six weeks, lived with these characters on my mind for weeks (seeing them nearly every night does that to you) and now all of a sudden it is over. *sniff*.
Anyways, the ending was… fitting. There were many things wrong with it, but since I watch the show for the characters and the crackyness and not for the ingenious plot twists (/sarcasm) it was, for me, satisfying. I did miss some things - I would have liked to see the bad blood addressed between C-Note and Mahone (and Kellerman and Mahone to a lesser extent). Even just one line would have been nice. And just about everybody hugged everybody except Michael and Alex. L
My favourite parts: Kellerman getting spat upon by Hale's widow and his last shot when he was in the car; the many Michael/Alex moments (but especially the one in which Michael expressed (rather grudgingly I thought) his gratitude; the Alex/Lang scene (I am SO relieved they did not get him and Pam back together, and Alex posting the birthday card was a perfect touch to show he still cared and they are still in contact).
Also, the Michael/Sara scene on the beach and the earlier one where they smile and embrace - SWC is gorgeous when she smiles like that.
The last five minutes were perfect. Michael jr getting the fake tattoo, Sara looking al radiant and beautiful, Sara and Alex hugging, Lincoln putting the origami crane on the headstone…
I was also insanely happy to find out there actually is a surf shop in their future.
I'm looking forward to the DVD movie to see how exactly Michael died (and how Lang and Alex got together).
