My Mom came to visit me all pregnant and to attend my baby shower. I had SUCH a wonderful time with her here. I wish she could stay and live in Portland. *sigh*
Anyways...Here's the run-down of her trip:
Tuesday April 8, 2008
-Picked her up from the airport at 11:30pm
-Drove home, chatted a bit, then went to bed
Wednesday April 9, 2008
-Slept in til 10am
-Chatted and relaxed most of the morning
-Went to Fred Meyer to get groceries, brought the doggies
-Returned home and took Jacob and Ella with us for a walk down the street to the plant nursery and got 4 cute plants
-Mom made supper while I picked up John
-Ate yummy pork chops and twice baked potatoes mmmm!
-Charles and Tam stopped by and had some supper
-John, Me, Mom, Charles and Tam all went to Mt. Scott and played in the water like little kids!
-Relaxed and watched tv (South Park and Hell's Kitchen) with Mom and John
Thursday April 10, 2008
-Red car broke on the way to taking John to work so John had to call in so we could get it fixed
-Chatted and got ready and just relaxed at the house
-John fixed Handy, the blue car
-Charles stopped by to follow John to the mechanic and bring him home
-Charles drove John, Mom and me to a greasy spoon restaurant on Hawthorne for lunch
-John took Mom and I in the blue car to pick up the repaired Red car
-Mom and I went to the Kennedy School and went to the movie "The Bucket List" and laughed and cried while we lounged in the wing-backed chair and couches
-Mom and I went to the Lloyd Center Mall and found the outfit that Mom wanted to give John for Jonas because it matched John (argyle socks and button brim hat)
-Mom didn't feel too good (probably the greasy spoon's food) so we went home and I made her some soup and we watched "Knocked Up"
Friday April 11, 2008
-John stayed home again from work - he needed sleep!
-Got ready and headed out to Cannon Beach with John, Mom and the doggies!
-The weather couldn't have been nicer - it was 68 degrees and sunny so we watched the dogs have a BLAST in the sand and the water while we walked along the gorgeous beach
-We ate a late lunch at one of the local seafood restaurants mmm!
-Headed back to Portland...caught some of the 5 o'clock rush hour
-We dropped Mom off at the Clackamas Town Center and John and I had our first "Birth Prep Class"
-Returned home and chatted
Saturday April 12, 2008
-Mom and I went to the Clackamas Town Center to do some last minute shopping for the shower (she got me a shirt to wear for the shower too!)
-Got home and rushed to get ready and head out to the baby shower at John's parents house in Oregon City with John, me, Mom, Charles, Destiny and Destiny's crazy (but adorable) puppy Miles
-Had an awesome baby shower! It was co-ed and fun - lots of food and games, great gifts and the best company a girl could ask for! (Elvis, John's Dad's dog, humped Miles outside the ENTIRE 4.5 hours we were out there. Miles was soaked! eww!)
-Stopped at the house to let the doggies out and Al and Lynne (John's parents) dropped off all of the gifts from the shower...since we had a full car
-Me, John and Mom headed to The Screen Door for supper with Al and Lynne - very yummy, unique food!
-Mom, John and I met up with John's co-worker, Jonathon, at Harvey's Comdey Club for the late show - we all had a blast and laughed a lot! It was just super uncomfortable sitting on the stools. I had to get up a lot and stretch
-Returned home and passed out
Sunday April 13, 2008
-Mom was up early and started cooking all the food we bought on Wednesday - Mom and I made lasagna, meatloaf, and lemon cheesecake bars. YUMM!
-Mom and I took Jacob and Ella to the Saturday Market - the weather was 70 degrees and sunny! We got a few things for Jonas and some chocolates for Mom's co-workers
-We returned home and realized how tired we were and just relaxed and watched tv with John, who was also very tired after mowing the lawn
-We ate lasagna and then went through all the gifts from the shower, removed tags and put things in the appropriate places
-Went to bed a little earlier...very tired!
Monday April 14, 2008
-Mom and I chatted and put together this awesome chicken chili recipe and put it into the slow cooker for supper.
-Eventually we got ready and headed out to Burlington Coat Factory where the Baby Depot is (where I registered). Mom got a really nice jacket, 2 pairs of shoes, and 3 pairs of nice slacks to wear to work. She got a cute shirt for Rob (my brother) since his Birthday is right around the corner. We also got a few things for Jonas' room
-Mom and I went to Applebee's for our traditional lunch. It was yummy!
-We returned home and decided to get all of Jonas' bedding (that Mom got for him) washed up so we could put it in the crib so Mom could see it all set up before she left
-While stuff was washing, Mom and I went to Fred Meyer to get pots for the plants we got on Wednesday and ended up finding a great-looking, 5' tall palm tree for Jonas' room. We, of course, were there long enough to get the super giggles and almost wet our pants from laughing so hard hahaha!
-Charles, Tam and Blair stopped by to wish Mom off
-Mom and I watched the movie "Blue State" and chatted on and off during it
-Went to bed late - I didn't want to go to sleep because then it would be Tuesday...the day she left...but I was so tired I had to
Tuesday April 15, 2008
-Got up and got ready earlier than usual (9am)
-Talked for a while and cried a little...knowing she was leaving soon.
-I took Mom out to Tom's for a good ole breakfast - SO GOOD!
-We headed to the airport...I did the $3/hour parking because I just wasn't ready to say good-buy (still not ready, really...)
-I helped her get her boarding passes and get organized for her flights
-I had to stop at the gate terminal and say good-bye for now (crying)
-We hugged as long as we could while we cried and said we'd see each other soon (since Jonas will be born in less than 2 months)
-I watched her as she got checked in, then I left
-I cried the whole way through the airport, paid my $3, still crying, got to the car, still crying, had to wait until I could control my sobbing before I drove home
-Mom called me as I was driving on the highway home - she was still crying too, but we got ourselves together and talked a little about how much fun we had and how much we look forward to her next visit
It was a great week that I wish wouldn't have ended yet.
All I can say is this: if you are close to your family - DON'T MOVE FAR AWAY FROM THEM!
