Cole McKenna stops at a little bar on his way down the mountain where he has gone to come to terms with the loss of his wife. Her body has never been found even two years after her kidnapping ordeal; he is fairly certain she is gone. At the remote bar, he spots a familiar face. Though his wife would never dress or act in suck a sexy manner, he knows the woman known as the Cat is his wife.
Nikki is startled when she hears a man talking to her - not out loud…He speaks directly to her mind! It is the attractive, brooding stranger at the bar. Thinking she can play her zap game on the unsuspecting man, she challenges the man to kiss her. No one has ever been able to touch her. To her amazement, he can! When he brushes his lips over hers, the lights flicker. When he takes her outside for a real kiss, Cole and Nikki pop street lights. Knowing that they have some sort of long standing connection, Nikki goes with Cole.
Cole finds Nikki a much more passionate mate than her past incarnation. Will she remain so after she learns the truth about their lives and the shadowy group called New Genesis?
The Past
Adam is a boy bio-engineered with donor DNA to create a new sort of human with extraordinary powers of telekinesis. Soon the doctors and scientists realize the dangerous consequences of this breeding: telepathy and the power to manipulate electricity. Now they have to find a way to control the angry boy who has never been outside the walls of the compound. When Adam is five, the solution appears in the form of a four year old Angelica who is “sold” to them by her grandmother. Noting she has the very same powers as Adam, they consider her a possible mate for Adam. Bonding with the girl, Adam will do anything for Angelica.
As a teenager Adam is made to crave sex in order to gather his sperm for research and future breeding purposes. On the other hand, Angelica is made to fear sex so she will not mate with Adam. Instead the scientists decide to harvest her ovaries and make certain she doe not survive the procedure. Adam rescues her in time. Then vows he will gain their freedom.
Enlisting the aid of two of the doctors that had donated genetic material, the teenagers escape after Adam manages to blow the electricity to the entire county. Marrying, the teens become Cole and Joanna McKenna. The doctors teach the couple to live free and later become surrogate grandparents to their child.
Later Joanna and their daughter are kidnapped and taken in opposite directions, forcing Cole to make a decision who to rescue first. Choosing their child, Cole is torn by guilt when he believes Joanna is killed.
