Just a reminder that there's a meetup in DC tomorrow (Sunday): noon, under the Washington Monument! Cosplay if you like, but don't be afraid to show up if you don't have a costume.
Here is a map of the Metro. The closest Metro station to the Monument is the Smithsonian station: that's on both the Blue and Orange lines. You won't need directions to the monument once you reach ground level, since the thing is so big. Just look for me when you get there -- I'll be cosplaying America, so I shouldn't be too hard to find. :B
If you're planning on taking the Metro from the north/northeastern DC area, be advised that due to the investigation regarding the recent Metro accident, you'll be experiencing hella delays on the Red Line. I'd add a half hour to my travel time.
Bring anything you think might be fun -- board games, a camera, whatever! -- but this is the stuff I'd consider essential:
x Sunblock. Even if it's overcast, you can get fried.
x Likewise, a hoodie and an umbrella. There's a chance of rain tomorrow (but we won't let that stop us, of course!)
x $10-ish or a lunch. There are a few awesome cafes in the general area and snack vendors too, just make sure you're not without money or foodins (though I'll be bringing delishis birthday caek).
x Comfortable shoes, derp derp.
Here's what I'd leave at home:
x Flags, large signs, such as that. Those things aren't fun to lug around the metro, and stand a chance of getting damaged.
x Knives or pepper spray. They're illegal in DC, and if we go into the Smithsonian or anything like that, security will be checking bags and won't be pleased to see these things. Don't worry, I'll protect you from muggers :B
x Likewise, prop weapons. Unfortunately it's not a convention environment, so we'll get at best weird looks and at worse MP reprimands. XD
Aside from any party games or whatnot that people want to bring with them I have a few activities that we can vote on when we meet up. If you have any ideas, though, tell me please~
If you have questions or want my contact info to get directions or make sure you're talking to the right person before you just wander up to some blond under the Monument, you can AIM me at qui gon jenn.
If you're planning on coming, please leave a comment so that I just have a general ballpark estimate for number of people. :3
...Sorry if you see this twice, I totes crossposted it for max exposure.
