jail bird.
So yea, I just got home from the Gwinnett County Detention Center...
Here's what happened:
I had a few beers at work last night during the poker tournament and on my way home I decided to stop and get another pack of cigarettes (I only had one left at the time). I get to QT, go inside and use the restroom and buy a pack of cigarettes and when I go back outside to get into my car, some strange burly man is leaning against my mother's car. I walk up to him and ask him why he is against the car and he tells me that he just called the police and that they were on their way to come arrest me.
Immediately I freak out because I am genuinely confused and I ask him, "Sir, why are you doing this? I'm just trying to get home." After I said that I tried to get into the car to leave and he blocked my path and sat in the car refusing to let me leave the gas station.
The cops show up, they read my breath (I blew .199 and .216), and they handcuff me. Then they put me in the back of the squad car and call my mother to pick up her car.
Once we get to the jail, they took my picture and stuck me in a holding cell until about 5:45 this morning when they woke me up to process me into their computers. After that, they stick me in a room with roughly 50 other people. One toilet, no A/C, no water and nothing remotely comfortable to sleep on.
I slept as much as I could, didn't get much though considering I was lying on a concrete floor.
But yea, Kristen and my mother got the $291 together to bail me out and they rescued me around 1ish.
After talking to my mom and my dad ( who has a friend who is an attorney and will act as my lawyer), we figured I would get a $2,000 fine, some community service, and another $2,000 to pay my lawyer.
Problem is, since I blew a .216 (more than twice the legal limit), I may have to spend up to five days in the county jail as a part of my punishment. I'm hoping I won't have to, chances are I won't, but it's still a possibility.
Fucking DUI at 19. How in the world do I manage to keep fucking up??
