Comment to this post and I will pick seven things I would like you to talk about. They might make sense or be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.hildakrista gave me: loyalty, pork, domesticity, fantasy books, wool, fun, and your favorite adult beverage.

They pointed at us as evidence of the end times, which seemed perfectly ridiculous since humans have been cohabiting  in groups for centuries maybe longer.  That's the problem with human history.  It only goes back so far and omits so much.  Major civilizations have rose and fell without leaving behind details that would disproved the reigning power-hungry zealots. Not that it would stop them from pointing.

Thankfully the earthquakes did.  Or at least they stopped folks from assigning blame as everyone become far more preoccupied with saving their families and rebuilding their lives. There were a lot of homeless folks after the Madrid fault slipped. Truth be told it was worse than the SanFran quake 2 years previous because homes and highrises of the middle Mississippi valley weren't built with anti-earthquake  measures installed.  A few offices had been retrofitted but most of those renovations were snake oil construction style.

No one in our clan died.  Can't say the religious zealots were so lucky. We took it as an opportunity to move in together.  This wasn't a surprise to anyone who knew us.  We hadn't been hiding, just not broadcasting.  As it was, some folks were surprised to discover extra people in the house next door. But folks were too busy rebuilding and so mostly kept to themselves. Beside, when a large house that had once been apartments was still standing, so no one asked questions about extra people living there.

It was the small stuff that was the hardest to figure out at first. Not everyone understood small forks had to be sorted separate from large forks in the silverware drawer. Also when you go through a service for six with each meal, there are a lot of dishes to be done. Daily chores became a requirement to keep the peace. as did weekly scheduling meetings. We found a large whiteboard calendar helped.

We all had to learn new patterns. While chores increased due to extra bodies, we all could specialize. Slowly niches developed and were traded until an equilibrium was established.  Amazingly night time habits just sort of developed and a new relationship developed to everyone's surprise and pleasure.

We thought pets would be an issue. However the cats sorted themselves faster than the humans and the chihuahua, well it learned to use the cat box.

Domesticity fit us all.  Of course the paternity tests were annoying but those were rare and, after the first, became a herald for celebration. The wild children that we were had become tamed.
