ok, new rule:
if you're putting up a myspace profile (or any other kind, for that matter) and you are listing your musical taste, you are not allowed to say
a) "I like a wide variety
b) "I'm into many different types"
or, worst of all
c) "my musical taste is very eclectic"
UNLESS
*more* than 50% of the stuff you list is not i-iv-v
It's perfectly fine to say "I like David Gray, 311, The Killers, Hot Hot Heat, Collective Soul, Bush, Journey, U2, Foo Fighters, The Shins, Coldplay, Garden State soundtrack..."
You just don't get to preface that with "I like a pretty wide variety of music"
(while we're at it, no more distain for "drugs" if you then brag about getting drunk. OWN your substance abuse.
